My nephew interned for Oilers scouting department last summer. LD wasn't even the consensus 3rd overall pick. - Cooshie
And? What does that matter? All 3 were pretty close after the Defender. |

Not Galchenyuk - Pecafan Fan
3 seasons in and he's producing like a 2nd liner already... and he was 20 for most of this season.
wouldn't be surprised to see a 10-20 point jump in production next season. |

It doesn't matter who we draft, because we got this guy coming
http://www.eliteprospects...m/player.php?player=94676
It's the Russian invasion!
Just gotta get this trade with Canes done so we can add Semin to the mix
Then trade for Burmy's rights from the Peg.
The real end game here is to give Don Cherry a heart attack |

I really hope the leafs don't trade down. who was our last 2nd rder to make an impact?
Kulemin??
Unless someone offers a haul, they should stay at 4. - GardinerExpress
It's a misleading and horrifically scary stat, though.
Most years, we haven't had a 2nd round pick.
2004 - none
2005 - none
2006 - Kulemin
2007 - none
2008 - Jimmy Hayes (168 NHL games)
2009 - Kenny Ryan (0 NHL games)
2010 - Brad Ross (0 NHL games)
2011 - none
2012 - Matt Finn (0 NHL games)
2013 - none
2014 - none
God, the Leafs suck.

yup. when it comes to CHL, nothing's a better predictor of future success than draft year production.
only a handful of teams are better at picking successful players than if they just went by production.
1.6ppg is very good, don't get me wrong. But it's far from 2.0ppg |

There was once a time Leaf fans on here over valued their players like crazy... now our players are all dog sh!t it seems? Fodder for bad trades?
Who in the (frank) would trade Kessel + Kadri + the 24 for the 5 and Semin? That's on par with the Thornton trade for epic sh!ttyness. |

Seriously with Hunter in the organization its a sure-fire bet that if Marner is up for grabs the Leafs grab him.
The right play for the Leafs, I truly believe, would be to try and get Strome & Marner. They should do everything in their power to make that happen. If it means overpaying and offering up Kessel in a 1-for-1 swap, do it.
All the powerful teams in this league have a dynamic duo of great forwards that have chemistry and have played a long time together (that can also perform when separated to elevate the play of their teammates and balance out the offense). Kane-Toews, Stamkos-Johnson, Getzlaf-Perry, Crosby-Malkin, Ovechkin-Backstrom. Not saying that its guaranteed Strome & Marner will ever live up to those kind of standards but its a start and that should be the end-game/goal for the Leafs - twiztedmike

Not planning that.. We bought the old YMCA here in town. It is not even that old, half of the building is only 14 years old. So, the old pool will be turned into a second gym with rock climbing around the perimeter. and then we have a ton of room up stairs for the dance studio and martial arts area. Then the lower level, we have a bike club, and offices and a classroom to rent as well.. - bixll
If you can put up with the crazy parents, this is a boatload of money.
Trust me.
My mother in law puts our kids in dance (it's her thing - she started it when my father in law died).
Let's just say I'm not exactly a big fan, but I'm just smart enough to keep my mouth shut.
I don't know exactly how much she pays, but I'm willing to bet a beer and a sandwich that it adds up to over $1,000 per session, when you factor in costumes.
And then we have to go to the recital every year. And I swear, for the kids 8 and under, it looks like they just told the kids an hour beforehand to follow what the instructor does on stage.
But my mother in law loves it....
Sigh. |

Nobody would.
Last thing I heard it was 24 and a roster player for 5th and Semin
Never said who the roster player was.

Meh, I get it. You are defending your player. No worries.
From a different perspective, I could see LD dropping to 6th or 7th in this draft year...just my opinion - hence why I think that trade offer was terrible. |

What was Leon supposed to do? Be a ppg player? Do you actually think his 30 odd games are indicative of anything he will do in the NHl?
I'll pay the premium for Hanifin because he's a defender and were in good shape down the middle. Not because I have some silly expectation that he will be a Calder candidate or immediate top 4 D next year. That's just dumb.
Also, your perception of a deep draft is kinda screwy. It doesn't mean the consensus 3rd and 4th overalls will be better than the previous years 3rd and 4th overalls. It means the later picks, like 10-50, will have more high end talent than previous years. - Jeropotato
Draisatl would not be top 5 this year. Only an Oilers homer would fail to see that.
