Clown are you going to lead the charge this summer in pro-Reinhart like Irish's brigade for Cally?

I'm with you on the Reinhart side btw.

They're both very good and very different talents. McDavid is ranked as the better prospect but I think it's fair to even consider that Eichel may end up being the better overall asset. It's possible.

This is not accurate. McDavid is the clear-cut #1. Eichel is the clear-cut #2. Nobody else in this draft comes close to either of them. If the Sabres were to draft either Marner or Strome, they don't come anywhere near a championship within the next decade. That's not to say that drafting Eichel makes them anywhere near a lock for a Cup, but you need a player of that caliber to win one. Strome and Marner aren't that. Those are pieces you build with, not build around.
- buffalofan19

Boston didn't have a generational player and they won a cup. Ovechkin is a generational player and WAS still has not won a cup.
One player doesn't make you win championships. You don't just build around one player you build around a core and I could easily see Marner, Strome, Hanafin and Povorov as core pieces on any team.
In the end, this is all speculation. We'll see when the players hit the ice... everyone though Yakopov was going to be the next OV... look how that turned out.

Dreger: “They will have to start negotiating rather quickly I would say on pending restricted free agent Dougie Hamilton.”

“There are some who believe that he could be the poster child for the offer sheet,” added Dreger."

According to Dreger Hamilton could be looking at “Doughty and Pietrangelo” money, that means a $6, 500, 000 to $7 , 000, 000 dollar cap hit. Any team with the necessary draft picks required to match the RFA compensation and cap space could sign Hamilton to an offer sheet.

Is Dougie Hamilton worth an offer sheet? He's not worth 4 1st round picks to me.

My question would be, who the (frank) is giving Dougie Hamilton over 9 million dollars?

I don't recall a single scout saying that. As far as hopeful Oilers fans, I wouldn't doubt it.

I hope someone does, and I hope it's Boston. I know everyone wants him to be at the level of Doughty, Keith, etc., but he's not. He's not nearly as good of a skater as the others, and he's actually pretty slow. Don't get me wrong, he's a very good defenseman, but if Boston ties themselves to him as their "#1", they're not going to be a serious threat.

Boston is the exception, not the rule, and you're not going to see a team like them win a cup for a long, long time. You win Championships with elite players. That's not to say that getting one assures you of a Cup, but you generally can't win one with out him.

No one's giving Dougie 9+ so I don't think it's even relevant. But I'm with you that I would hope they do, because I'd lmao.

poop is quiet in here...
Who is the last mother(frank)er you want on your team?
I mean out of all 700 (approximate) players who do you want the least on this team?

I think it is laughable that anyone, even good naturedly, offers up the idea that Eichel is a better choice than McDavid. Belly laughable.

If McDavid were not in the draft, we would be speculating about a true comparison that has some real meaning. Do you take Eichel ahead of Strome or Marner? McDavid has pushed down the buzz on team mate Strome (#1 in OHL scorning) and Marner (#2).

I think Marner is going to win an NHL scoring title. He has a magic stick and incredible hockey IQ. This is the guy Buffalo needs to consider with the #2 pick.

Eichel is the old man of this draft. Happens every year. Guys get great reviews early on, but scouts know he is an early birthday and was only a couple of weeks out in qualifying for last year's draft. Eichel is this year's Sean Couturier. A good player that has an age and size advantage coming through the ranks. Being a 1/2 year older than the other guy is huge when your 16.

- spatso

Well here is another dumb opinion, by a dumb canadian who is wearing the thickest canadian glasses which you can purchase from the biased canadian media.

Not here to say eichel is better, though i believe the gap is narrow. I believed this before the lottery and i still believe eichel puts up the same numbers in the OHL as mcdavid. Id have bet on it.
