And we care about red ass in the regular season why exactly? - HawkintheD
Because Quennvile and the players want it.
If you don't think Toews and Kane like having someone like Buff, Bickell or Mayer step in when they are getting run at constantly you're wrong.
There is no need any longer for Peluso/Grimson/Scott types and there is no need for this team (which is tough) to dress a Bolig type in the playoffs. In the regular season there is still a need. Better to have a Desi taking on a Roussell than Shaw getting hurt fighting out of his weight class.
Patrick Kane, one of those "superstars" on the Hawks, said "it's important" to have players with grit on the team and welcomes the addition of Carcillo.

The difference is (hopefully) that Stan has done a good job restocking the pipeline with quality prospects. - Ogilthorpe2
Indeed.
And the Hawks interest in NCAA FA's, Russians and undrafted Swedes is likely the norm moving forward.
Finding affordable talent wherever it can be found. |

Considering the cap bustin' deals Toews and Kane signed...
...they can't really be making roster demands. Without a significant bump in the cap in the next 3-4 years...
...expect a regular rotation of borderline bums and young'ns.
It'll be a tough task keeping the Hawks from becoming Penguins west. - ArlingtonRob
You're forgetting one important fact. The core after Crosby and Malkin isn't close to the core after Kane and Toews, especially the defense and goalie. |

And that signing has worked out just great...
Although at the time I wouldn't expect Kane to say anything else. |

Guys like Desi are fine. He plays the game well. But their's no room for tough guys who can't play a regular shift and contribute in other areas.
As far as your quote...
"To be honest, I'm not sure why they signed him...he's pretty much useless"
What's he supposed to say?

Oh please. If you're not the Boy Who Cried Wolf I'm not sure who is. You demand respect but give none to people you have a beef with.
So please cut the crap. - HawkintheD
Really? Demand respect. As my final post on this board, and I will never be back, is you and your boys just keep patting each other on the back.
God bless. All I'll say. But sooo much more could have been. But you see, I'm a gentleman. Wish they're were more here.
Good news. You and the posse are back getting control. Just like last year! |

The Hawks are three wins away from a cup and you're female doging about injury replacements who basically aren't getting much ice time and they aren't playing too bad when they are on the ice. Try to see the positives. - paulr
What are you - the resident morale officer?
That post was simply laughing at the worries about 5-6 and contrasting it to the earlier female doging about Rosi. Unlike several here I actually thought Rundblad was almost adequate last game. Perfectly fine for the TOI he got. |

Ok, maybe I missed the point to a certain extent as I've posted before I'd like Desi back and think like you mentioned, Johns and possibly Baun could provide some next year...which I don't have a problem with and would contend most don't.
After the last few seasons though I thought the idea that them wilting at any point in the season (regular and post) because of this had kind of been put to rest.

Well...we will all see how this "experiment" works out in the next several years.
Don't get me wrong, besides the cap hits being a bit more than I would've preferred there was no other option...
... but if the cap doesn't go up 5-10M over the next 2-3 years, SB is going to find it increasingly difficult to put a balanced team on the ice. |

Should be reported. Apologize , my bad. Abrasiveness sucks boys. I'm guilty. Just want a respectful decorum. - TexasFlood
Can't you see. US must have asked for an air raid tonight and the pissants jumped to it like the lackeys they are.
It can get bitter in blacklistville. |

My hope...
...TVR was still recovering from his knee, and was likely tentative, during his short stay in Rockford.
Then he sustained the wrist injury. During his recovery from his wrist procedure the knee continued to improve and is now an afterthought.
That's my hope... - ArlingtonRob
Mine too. A knee/leg can impact everything. If that has healed he may look good. Could be valuable experience for him too. |

Fighting is down, more and more teams no longer carry goons and the reason is team's copy successful teams and right now teams are copying the Blackhawks who have proven and are proving you can have a tough team without the need to have the most hits or the most fights. - paulr
And why Desi is a nice choice for the role. He can play and step up when necessary... Which is becoming less and less but there are still team in the regular season it may be needed against. |

Well said...I don't mind a little redass, as long as it comes with a skilled player, but finding both isn't always easy. If the option is a skilled player, or a fearless "tough guy" who'll sit in the box 8 minutes a night...
...I'll take the skill every time. It isn't 1988 anymore... |
