so if the leafs trade kessel or phaneuf for a 1st next year, they can offer dougie hamilton 6 mil and it only costs them a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd? do they have their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd next year? if they really wanted to force their hand, they could push it to 6.5-7 mil - matt1337
would be crazy for boston not to match
they should be able to dump other players |

screws up their cap then
i read back pages, lots of people had a similar idea. i like the thought of looking to offer sheet someone next year, rather than this. not 1 player can turn this ship around. get our top pick next year, and then possibly offer sheet someone whose team has financial issues or cap issues. that way we still get 1 of the highly touted players next year, and someone who already is a roster player.
significant rfa's next year: gudbranson, b schenn, kreider, couturier, vatanen, barkov, jones, e lindholm, monahan, nichuskin, forsberg, murray, scheifele, trouba |

Don't even bother doing that the year after... no need to Offer Sheet anyone, ya know why?!?!?
#FreeStamkos/Tavares hits full effect and we possibly sign one or both of them as UFAs and keep our picks and give up nothing!!!
I mean we're still in dreamland right?

tavares is a ufa in 2018. if you thought i meant signing all of those players you are also wrong. i'm saying there are a bunch of rfa's which we could offer sheet 1 of them. by that time, we should start being competitive, and we would have gotten a payer who is about to hit their prime, no a prospect who is still an unknown. |

i generally see these as pretty low probability.
i think the best bet is offering sheeting a fringe guy .... say martin jones in LA. LA can't get stuck with an expensive backup. not saying he's the right fit for the leafs; just that i think someone could snag him. |

schefeile or trouba is possible. that team has a lot of good players and will have cap issues by then. could force tomake them pick 1 or the other. i'd rather trouba of course |

schenn is the only one listed I can see not being locked up before becoming a rfa and I don't have much interested in him |

Seriously? There's nothing wrong with the Avatar, you guys are being petty because it's Iggysbf. Would be consistent in what you deem an appropriate avatar when it concerns Leafs fans? |

C'mon now. Iggy likes to act like a relentless bumhole. If Dozzer or one of the other mods wants to single him out with extra sanctions that's fine. It's just an internet forum. |

Bruce claims it was at least a dozen people, hard to believe there are that many a-holes on this thread.
P.S. I don;t even like the "Iggybff" guy, but he's getting a bad rap. IMO.
