Yes, but I'd try and sell them on Bozak first - 1979AD
Bozak is an easy sell..
Bozak is good at faceoffs and really good at penalty shots... Plus he has killer hair and is extremely loyal... |

Is Kessel worth more today than when the Leafs traded for him in 08?
Not precisely a #2 pick + #8 pick plus whatever the 2nd rounder was... but do you see Kessel as being more valuable in 15 than in 08? This is at tough one for me to determine... |

Burke overpaid in 2008. Plus, at this point, I think everyone knows what type of player Kessel is.. In 2008, he was an unknown commodity. |

that'd cost us 4 1sts.
For offer sheet purposes, the overall salary(56M) is divided by a maximum of 5 years.
So it'd be like offering him 10M/year.
also you can only re-sign players to 8 year deals, FAs are capped at 7 - Schenn-Sational!
Yeah, but keep in mind two things:
1) These guys are RFAs, not UFAs. The trend in recent years is for teams to screw them with their "bridge deals." So nobody is going to offer them more than a 5 year deal, and no RFA wants to sign more than a 5 year deal. They want to sign a deal that takes them to UFA land.
2) If you offer a guy a deal and he signs it, the other team can't offer a different deal. They have a right to match, but that's it.
I'm predicting at least two RFA offers this summer (league-wide). |

And Burke thought he was giving up about a #20 overall, about a #50 overall, and about a #20 overall the next year.
Which was franking stupid, I know. Don't shoot the messenger. |

If it ended up being a #15 + a #18 + a 2nd rounder would you consider that an over payment?
I think you're right though about the unknown vs known commodity. |
