Agreed..... That is a bad deal for kessel alone, never mind adding jvr. No 1st? A prospect the leafs have no interest in?
Just not much there - burn
that was a terrible trade proposal. if they are trading kessel and jvr to the isles, dal colle is coming our way for sure, and probably pulock. this garbage 3rd liners for jvr is insane |

And it's that hard to find a player like him. He is not elite and not a #1 C. - RogerRoeper
Yeah, get a player like that young and cheap through the draft. I want to see the Leafs build their team from within for a change. |

I feel like, IMHO, that we have some intriguing prospects that we've already developed. guys like verhaeghe, who was drafted in the 3rd, and Dominic Toninato are 2 prospects that are very interesting that I think many people overlook. Toninato always comes to the rookie camp and has impressed the past 2 years. He continues to get better every year.
I can't wait to see how he turns out. I figure he will do 1 more year of college at least, possibly finish out his degree, before turning pro and playing in the AHL. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he turns into something.
I think the best thing the leafs did was hiring all these OHL guys for front office jobs. These guys know the O better than anyone else, after watching, and even drafting some of these players themselves. Hunter knows what he is doing, and I am sure he can find some diamonds in the rough late in the draft.
Blake Speers could be someone they look at with their 3rd. Someone that Dubas would know really well playing for the Soo the past 2 years and he was given the A this year. I know they won't just stick to guys from their teams, but they would know about their character better than anyone else would. |

Agreed, I'm optimistic that they have some knowledgeable guys in place who are focused on drafting and developing instead of big splash trades and UFA signings like they've tried in the past. I was encouraged by how high Babcock was on Hunter, he seems to love that guy. And of course getting Babcock in itself was a big move both because he's a good coach, but also because of the message of credibility it sends about the management regime. When it does come time to add pieces via UFA, I suspect players will be much more intrigued by playing for Shanahan and Babcock than Nonis and RC. |

O'rielly would be a mistake, to me it would be a sign that they're trying to rush the rebuild. Just stick to the plan and build from the ground up, players like this will always be available when the proper time comes to acquire them. - 13sundin13

THEN WHY DO HIS NUMBERS NOT SHOW THIS???? - lumlums
seriously, this guys said that about himself?
the marketing of the draft and draft eligible players has gotten completely out of control.
why doesn't he just shorten it up and say which year he'll be going into the HHOF?

Suzuki is like Don Cherry, he knew alot about a certain narrow subject - a long time ago.
and in Suzuki's case.... it wasn't hockey. |

on a serious note... has anyone heard any comment from Eichel or Hanifin indicating that they will definitely turn pro once drafted? |

hope... you are selling hope.
you MUST simply remember at all times - ALL LEAF PROSPECTS SUCK always and forever.
do you not recognize how much worse Nylander became the moment he was drafted by the Leafs? and how much better he would be if he had been drafted by the Canucks, Sens or Flyers?

It's crazy. Even on a less than stellar team he should be putting up 1.5 PPG in the OHL with his size if he's as good as he claims. To have a slightly worse PPG than Freddy Goats and say these things about yourself is ludicrous |

Nope.
And to be honest, if we were drafting either I wouldn't mind. Let them develop for a year or two away from this tire fire |
