You hionestly think, with scoring in the toilet, someone will break Gretzky's records?
In Wayne's prime, he was scoring over 200 points a season. Jamie Benn just won the Art Ross with 87 points... - RogerRoeper
Which begs the question, how impressive are Gretzky's stats, actually? He played against goaltenders and other players with the skill set of a beer league....I'd love to see how "great" Gretzky would actually be in todays game. |

Nice headline.....only a little bit misleading. The article has nothing to do with shot blocking techniques. Sports net sux. |

Well of course... he's American.
Kessel is ten times the player Gretzky was. He'll destroy his records one day too. Just watch. 20 years. If Kessel was a beer house league blah blah *sharts self* Clark bum, he'd score 400 pts a season.

It would have been interesting to see how close it really could have been had Mario stayed healthy. I think he had more natural skill than Gretzky. |

Umm..215!!!!
And injuries are part of the game. That's always been a weak excuse. He does get a pass for Cancer tho....not that he needs one.
Still, as great as he was...Mario did not beat any of Wayne's 50 odd records....and in his comeback he actually lost a record to Wayne...career ppg. |

Part of what made Gretzky great is was so agile and slick that he could avoid injury because he was impossible to hit. Lemieux had more of a power game, but Gretzky didn't have any need for one. |

Irrelavant really as no one is coring 200 points a season in today's NHL.
And everyone played against those same goalies.
And to be fair, a late 30's Gretzky with a crippled back got 90 points in the trap era. guy was indeed great. |
