I think best case scenario for us is for that rumour from this past week to come true. Picking up #5 overall without having to include Kessel in the deal would be a huge trade. That way we can still use him in another deal, perhaps to get #11 and whatever prospects. Then we can possibly use Phaneuf to get a mid-range 1st hopefully. We end up with picks 4, 5, 11, 16-19 & 24. Add in whatever prospects/young players we get back in deals and you couldn't ask for a better start to a rebuild. A pipe dream? Maybe, but not entirely impossible either.

According to the Blundell rumour, a combination of likely 2 players over 24.....so a combo of Kadri, Gardiner, Bozak, Holland, etc. Actually come to think of it, that might have included #24 as well. But that would still leave us us with four 1sts in that case.

I have a hard time believing they'll deal Matta. He's looked really good. Especially if they plan on unloading Letang, it would leave them pretty thin on the blue line.

Don't know why people think we can get Huberdeau from Florida. The deal would be Gudbranson, 11th, maybe Trocheck and Boyes (dump) who we could flip for a pick come deadline for Kessel and Polak. That's more realistic in my option. Huberdeau, Gudbranson, and the 11th for Kessel isn't happening.

For the length of the entire contract and that could be an interesting deal. Still not sure if I actually really want Phaneuf on the Oilers though.

You realize he's like 22 right? Over 50 points last year. He should probably be breaking out this coming season. I'll be targeting him in my fantasy pool.
