Really, really hope that we aren't saying that about Morin in a 2 years time. - Tomahawk
Oleksiak didn't put up the kind of post draft Junior production that Morin has done.
35 points in 79 games (0.443) versus 82 points in 122 games (0.672). |

Honestly, I would have rather have had him than that guy who keeps referring to himself in the 1st-person. |

No, I said, if you compared my picks to the actual picks of the team, I believe my 10 year set of picks will compare favorably to the actual picks. So come on, let's bet. I'm dead serious. Let's come up with a way to create a normalized scorecard - they get points for games played, plus-minus, points, whatever. I'll bet $1000, if I think about it, maybe even more. We'll start with the Couturier draft, so we're 4 years into the 10. - TheGreat28
I agree with your theory that some here could probably do just as well as a real GM in making first round picks. There are a few here who I think could do it. There are a few others here who, while hockey knowledgeable, are probably too emotional to do it.
And, um, starting with the 2011 draft - hindsight is 20/20, how does that even make sense? |

I wouldn't trade up. If he's there he's there, if not plan B. - Streit2ThePoint

He might quit if Eklund's rumor of the Wings trading Nyqvist and a couple prospects for Nash comes true |

The cat's out of the bag, why do they need the press conference? |

So the press can stop calling Blashill at home while he's on the can |

I think what makes it easier for a single fan, versus a GM, is that the fan doesn't have to make decisions through a committee and make compromises.
On the other side of that coin, the fan doesn't have a guy like Nolet hitting homeruns that they get to take credit for later, either.

I didn't back read, if Hexy is trying to trade up from #7, is it to get the forward he covets? Or to get the dman he really wants? |

No idea. The biggest difference in the Flyers news with Hextall in change vs Holmgren is the lack of rumors with some validity coming out.
We all saw rumors of the Carter trade, and the JvR for Luke Schenn trade, even the Versteeg deal, weeks and sometimes months before they went down. Eskin talked about the Richards deal the week before it happened.
With Hextall, we heard nothing. Hartnell...boom! Timonen...Boom! Coburn...Boom!
If nothing else, the rumor mongers haven't been able to break his veil of secrecy yet |

I actually like this. And it is easy enough to track rumors back to the source if you have kept track of who knows what. Ill bet Hexy is keeping track. |

It's nice to have rumors to discuss, but I prefer the Lamoriello Curtain Hextall has installed on Broad St |

I'm still waiting to find out what happened with Jeff Reese. Would really be a shame if he quit due to the way Ba-Ba Roobey handled Mason. |

Not sure we will ever find out. Why doesn't one of the beat guys reach out to Reese and get his side of the story? |

Thanks, the organization certainly has been in lockdown mode with Hexy. No one had a clue about Hakstol. I don't have a problem with all the secrecy.
I really think he wants to completely remodel most of the d core. It is going to be a very interesting summer before training camp. Is Hanifin still rated as the #1 dman prospect or has Provorov passed him generally speaking?

I don't have any problem with that either. If he doesn't wanna make every single one of his moves known weeks before it happens, then let him be secretive. It effects the team in no way whatsoever, so let the man do as he pleases. Again, as long as it has no negative impact on the team.

GM's hire scouts, and talent evaluators, and actually do the work, attend games etc. Not just read scouting reports and youtube videos and make a fantasy draft. You can be dead serious all you want, if any of us were actually qualified, we wouldn't be posting our picks on Hockeybuzz.

Well he's not an employee of the Flyers anymore, so it's not like they can put a gag order on him. Perhaps he's just a private person. Who knows what the story is. I'd like to know what happened, but I don't think the fans are owed an explanation. |
