Not sure teams want the term on his deal at his age - sbroads24
I'd love it if Buffalo took it on. They have the room to do it. His contract will be up in a while, but they won't have to pay him much, and Chicago gets stiffed with the retirement penalty if he does hang them up.
He went 20+ straight playoff games without a goal - sbroads24
1) he's never really been that much of a goal scorer. His scoring is secondary to what he provides. Of course, that's a crazy high # and they do want at least some secondary scoring from him, but it also doesn't mean he isn't doing all the other things he's counted on for
2) how many did Crosby go? He's actually counted on to score goals. It's a more appropriate criticism IMO

I have a feeling TM will swing a trade for Craig Anderson, out of Ottawa.
His recent comments clearly opened the door to that idea of a veteran overseeing the grooming a young keeper.
I just hope that such a deal doesn't require #21 overall. That be the case, I'd just assume sign Nuiverth as a UFA, & keeping the pick.
...tho an Anderson/Nuiverth 60/40 split could be interesting. - SuperCat
I don't think that's necessarily true. I think what he said was that he was really open to any option, whether that be it a young goalie to grow with the team or a veteran stop gap.

If you're going to pay a guy $5.2 million a year, he had better score far more than one goal every 20 playoff games. Otherwise, it's money poorly spent you matter how you slice it.

don't we get hit with it as well or is it just the team trading him away. Wouldn't shock me if he only played 2 more years, final 4 years pay a salary of 1 mil, cap circumventing mother(frank)ers

Crosby has 13 points in his last 18 playoff games, and it's by far the worst stretch of his career.
Callahan has 6 points in 26 playoff games over the past two years.
They are universes apart. We might as well compare Mike Weber to Duncan Keith
BUT NOBODY'S BARLEY SEEN HIM PLAY?!! He hasn't had the chance!
But (for what it's worth) he looked good for the Sabres down the stretch. - SuperCat
He's played in 168 games, he's had his chance with a few teams. He'd be a decent short term option if they can't find a long term solution this summer but he's probably not your number 1 on a great team.

He's the one guy I wouldn't mind seeing come back.

I do think that Hodgson & Grigorenko will both be decent NHLers...
But they're not really "Murray type" guys
And if Grigorenko can't switch to wing, then he's just stuck behind our obvious top3 centers
And while I don't doubt Hodgson can be a consistent 20 goal guy in this league, I do question whether he'll ever be good enough defensively.
I just don't see either fitting in here long term - jdfitz77
Has Reinhart done anything beyond what Grigo has done to become an "obvious" top center for this team?

Seriously?
Reinhart may not be proven at the nhl level yet, but that doesn't mean he isn't obviously the plan to be our #2 center
It's possible he doesn't work out, of course
But he's shown nothing yet to make any of us (or Murray) think that way
