I don't even know if it is so much a question of which D goes first. I don't think any of these guys are generational like Ekblad or Jones so some forwards will probably go before the top D. This is the very reason that I wouldn't necessarily trade Zads for any of them. - Slump Buster
Very well put, I th ink could go all the way ot like 7 or 8 before a D is taken |

Hanifin has been being talked about for over a year now as the next star defenseman.
Now all of the sudden he is "good player, nothing special" - ImThatGuy
I don't think anyone has said that.

Hanifin has no issues, he is the complete package.
Minus the punching people in the face part, which means he would not fit in, in buffalo. - ImThatGuy
Kind what I said, I feel like to have a top 10 D man he better be a PP QB stud like most have lately, I dont forsee him in that position |

Like I said , was an RFA idea. Smaller name that would cost less to poach. Thought he played both wings not just LW/C. - twinks20
I'm unsure if he slots into RW ever. I do like your out of box approach, I guess I just don't see the fit.
If/when TM makes a trade for a young player, I see him playing 1RW now or in the future. Slot Enzo at 2RW and Gio at 3RW. Girgs and Hodgson won't have a place on this team if a top RW is brought in without them going the other way. Once Gio leaves, Baptiste, Fasching, Compher and Bailey will be looking to make the jump. Interesting times for sure.
That could be a fluid dynamic, but that's how I see it. We need a guy with top 6 RW potential, and I'd prefer (who wouldn't) a top line RW. |

Elite Propects:
"Noah Hanifin is a star in the making. A true two-way player that coaches want to leave on the ice as long as they have juice left. His game is reminiscent to that of the NHL player Drew Doughty: a truly versatile defenseman and a catalyst for positive happenings at both ends of the ice
Hockeys future:
Hanifin is a smooth-skating defender with good size and acceleration who can generate some offense from the blueline but is also solid defensively. Although not a truly physical defenseman, he does not shy away form contact and will initiate it when necessary. Hanifin also has leadership qualities that could make NHL captain material down the road. Overall, he is an elite defender with few holes in his game.

Saying you wouldnt trade Zadorov straight up. Unless you are saying Zadorov is going to be a #1 D-man in this league very soon.
Which i would strongly disagree with. |

Hanifin is an unsexy but excellent pick. He will be an all around, top pairing guy probably in the mold of a Seabrook. Just does it all. He's not elite at any one facet, but he's still very, very good. Arizona doesn't need him as much as Strome or Marner, but I certainly wouldn't laugh at them if they scooped him up. OEL and Hanifin on their top pair would be incredible. |

There's also no guarantee Hanifin ends up one either. And even if he is able to make the jump right away, it could be years before he hits his true potential, just like we saw from Hedman.
I'm not saying I wouldnt make the trade, but I'm not saying I would either. |

What has Zadorov done to be elevated to "not being traded for a top 5 pick." Who's to say he hasnt reached his ceiling already or he will ever reach it?
He is a good D prospect to have, no doubt, but if you are able to get a top 5 pick for him, you take it and run. |

Your logic is faulty. Nobody knows which one is better or that one will certainly be a #1. Zads has elite physical tools so I would be hesitant to give him up. If Hanifan was Ekblad-elite he would surely go #3. Nobody is saying that he isn't going to be a very good D. |

Still remains to be seen if Hanifan is top 5. What have either of them done? Zads played in the NHL as a 19 year old and held his own (and at times looked very good). |

I see Pysyk mentioned in several potential trades. I don't move him unless the return is tremendous. As others have said, I think there is something really special about him. I'm fine with sitting back and letting the kids grow. |

Kid has a lot of tools in his toolbox. I'd hate to see him moved. I say it every time his name is mentioned and have for the past 2 years.
He really should have been on the NHL roster this past year. |

100% agree, If we had any plan on dealing him Id have wished we ddid it last year and get a bigger return than for him now. NOt to mention Id hate to waste the tiem we have put into him |
