Great plan but the only problem is that it's the Oilers. Besides ONE magical run in 05/06 the "plan" hasn't worked. The Oilers are an exciting team to watch filled with high draft picks but McDavid will not save them. The Oilers need veteran help on D, 3rd/4th lines plus goaltending. UFA's do not want to go to Edmonton. Unless a player is traded to Edmonton the much needed help will not come. Enjoy McDavid this year and your new arena in two years but the top picks will continue to come for the Oilers for years. Peter Chiarelli did a good job in Boston but he also had a city where players wanted to be. |

I would argue that having McDavid has already brought in Chiarelli and McLellan. I don't think it's far fetched to see some decent UFA's sign here now or players now deciding to waive their no movement/trade clauses. |

Well we don't have a lot of options. Didn't you read the above post? No one wants to play in Edmonton and McDavid is not going to help the Oilers |

Eberele is $$$$ and goes nowhere... book it... Nashville will not pay the piper for his services... - saskoil21
Eberle is so overrated. Ryan Ellis is a 24 year dman and drafted 11 overall in 2009. He had 27 points in 58 games. Since dman are worth more then wingers u wont be getting as good of a return as u would like. So Ellis and 2nd for eberle would be a good deal for both teams. He would instantly be ur number one dman and play 20 plus minutes a night. |

Ellis is not my idea of a number #1 dman... and Eberle may be overrated in your mind but I think he improved his play to a level we have not seen in some time with Nuge and Pouliot at the back half of this season... plus carried it to Worlds with Hall and Crosby... I would say Ebs has far from peaked... I see big things for him this upcoming season... |

Let me clear this up beforehand; yes, I would love Ellis+ in a return for Eberle were I to want to move him (which I don't). How is he overrated? He's a quality top line, offensive winger. He consistently scores 60ish points per season and considering Nashville's lack of such young talent (aside from Forsberg), it's a need-for-need trade.
Ellis is a great young #3 on a great contract, but he's also always played behind some combination of Weber, Suter, and Josi through his career so we're a little skeptical after being told that all of Fayne and Ference would also immediately become our top Dmen. |

He is very young promising forward. But for the same reason ur skeptical about Ellis they would be about Eberle. He has played with one the best wingers in the league in hall and Another young promising center in Hopkins. I only think he is overrated in the eyes of oiler fans. The only way your team gets better is trade in position of strength for position of weakness. You need dman and the odds are free agents wont sign with you guys unless u over pay. |

I think it would make more sense to draft a Dman (Zboril, Roy, or Kylington). If they were to draft a forward there, I'd much prefer they aim for either Merkley for his chemistry with Leon, Eriksson-Ek for the fact that he's a responsible bigger body, or DeBrusk for his perfect combination of high-end skill and crazy work ethic. |
