I would argue that having McDavid has already brought in Chiarelli and McLellan. I don't think it's far fetched to see some decent UFA's sign here now or players now deciding to waive their no movement/trade clauses. - ystoil
Getting to coach + manage a team with the young talent the Oilers have is mutually great for anyone involved. Also a lot of these people are competitive - managers, scouts, coaches - so hopefully this summer will do that. If not, I can only imagine as time progresses and McDavid enters the league - and most importantly how the organization will be run by PC, SN, and company - it's going to be really exciting.
Having said that, it's still Edmonton so I doubt EVERYONE will want to come; but players will talk and outside American players, I don't see many players complaining about the weather lol... some people want that "+7 rainy" weather |

He is very young promising forward. But for the same reason ur skeptical about Ellis they would be about Eberle. He has played with one the best wingers in the league in hall and Another young promising center in Hopkins. I only think he is overrated in the eyes of oiler fans. The only way your team gets better is trade in position of strength for position of weakness. You need dman and the odds are free agents wont sign with you guys unless u over pay. - hanleyaj
Eberle done well without hall, he didn't play with hall in the back half of the year and led the NHL or the west (don't remember) in points after the all star break. He plays tough competition too. Eberle has his warts but there is more risk to us taking Ellis than the other way around.
Eberle/Josi trade I'm listening and intrigrued. Especially if we can pry Seabrook using picks. I pass on another small and offensive dman, we have that in Schultz.
Josi Seabrook
Klefbom Schultz
Marincin Nikitin
Ference
Little less poopty. |

If it means anything, Ellis has really rounded out his game. He and Ekholm did a great job against the Kane line in the playoffs. |

Leafs have to find a way to get edm to take bernier and Dion for picks and salary dumps.
Nikitin would obviously have to be involved. But it gives them what they need. Well eat some salary too!
Make it happen
Schneider for the 9th
Try bernier for the 16!
I can see chiarelli(or how ever it's spelt) having a hay day and flipping this team into a contender a lot sooner then people think. You can now legit trade picks on up coming years for D and one solid goalie. Forwards are set and you can plug holes through free agents |

Keep leaving in dream land. Eberle for josi will never happen. Eberle and 16th for josi more likely. that would mean u would have no shoot at seabrook.

Ebs for Josi or Jones only. However, I've got the feeling the new GM & coach want to start the season with our current forwards to see how they click along with McD & Leon in the mix. Moves might come after that.
As much as I like Seabrook, there's no chance we could get him. He's more important to the Hawks than anyone on that team, including Toews & Kane IMO. Hawks priority is to keep him. |

You do realize that Josi had 55 points which is almost as much eberle. He averaged almost 30 minutes a game and for most of the season played better the Weber. No way is eberle worth Josi. Eberle and 16th might not even get it done. Wingers are the least valuable player on the roster. Number 1 dman who can play 30 minutes and score 50 plus points and only 25 is worth its weight in gold. |

Oiler fans live in la la land, They want top dman but dont want to give anything up. Good luck with that. U will prolly be in on Austin mathews draft. Such an embarrassing franchise i feel so bad for mcdavid.
Side note Eichel is a physical freak and kicked Mcdavid butt in almost every combine event. He is the most NHL ready foward in draft. ( not saying he will have more points, just will be able to handle playing faster, bigger and stronger players in NHL then Mcdavid) |

Your likely right but Ek made up the BS blog - and neither team will be dealing anything right away so its a moot point... Its true tho Oiler fans like myself value Eberle- and likely overvalue him- but Eberle is consistent and has proven he can play without Hall on his side.. |

Trade that would help both teams. Stay optimistic.
Oilers trade
Hopkins (just wait dont overreact)
Martin Marincin
to Minnesota
for
Jonas Brodin ( stud dman, very young and can play 25+ minutes a night)
Mikko Koivu
Reasoning, You will get one the best two center in game. He can play against other teams top line and protect Mcdavid. You will also get a future top 2 dman to pair with Nurse. Very good trade in my opinion. |
