i have yet to see any leaf fan think phaneuf is going to get a monster return, but Vantel and others are the first ones to make up awful proposals mocking leaf fans.

I think I'm in agreement with Vantel, Leafs cups are just as relevant as the Sens cups or the old Millionaires'.

Now if you were a Montreal fan, with cups post original 6 era, I could understand where you were coming from.

Leafs have cup wins before I was born. I don't think they have come close since. Don't know what you are holding on to, but it doesn't carry much weight with other fan bases. cups or not.

tell you guys what, i will promise to stop commenting on carol's threads if Vantel can man up and admit he was wrong for calling me a troll when i said Luongo and Schneider were not going to get massive returns. I just need a simple confession that I knew more than him, and that he will try to be less aggressive with the personal insults in the future because chances are he's wrong again.

I don't get why everyone is so hot to trade Lack. What will a pick 31-60 actually get us to replace Lack? Miller is gone in 2 years and Markstrom has never shown that he is an NHL goaltender, let alone a starter. After them, you have Cannata, Erikson and Demko. They all have potential, but that's about it.

I would suggest that if the Canucks didn't have to address Markstrom's contract (say he could play in the AHL another season), then no one would be talking about getting rid of Lack, and rather people would be talking about Lack replacing Miller and could Miller be traded to allow Lack the full time starter job. I have never heard anyone suggest Markstrom > Lack.

The Canucks are not loaded with top end goalie talent, and I would suggest keeping Miller and Lack and letting Markstrom go for a bag of pucks until Demko is available in 2 years is a reasonable plan. If you can improve upon the bag of pucks, great.

The other issue is, regardless of who is moved out between Miller, Lack and Markstrom, you still have Cannata and Erikson holding down AHL/ECHL responsibilities, and no other prospects in the pipe (barring Demko, another 2 seasons away). It would appear that Vancouver actually needs to acquire one or two goalie prospects to fill out the pipeline and hopefully build some competition to move up.

It's because Lack is going to want starter money (4-6mil) and the starter's job or will walk for nothing. Markstrom at least realizes that he needs to work on his game in the NHL and would be a serviceable backup until Miller's contract runs out. The sad fact is that you can't trade Miller and Markstrom isn't going to bring you much in the way of assets, better to trade the one who will and move on.
