According to TSN the Coyotes may be willing to trade the 3rd overall pick.

Seems legit. They're just getting a first round pick further along in development. It would be doing them a favour, really. |

I'm pretty sure their is no rule that states you aren't allowed to have 3 backup goaltenders on the bench.
Canucks were the first to make a goalie their captain, now they can be the first to dress 4 goaltenders. |

I'm not sure, but what I do know is that Luongo was and still is a flat out better goalie and was an upgrade for many teams. How many teams is Miller a legit upgrade for? And is the upgrade for that team worth the 6M cap hit? - Nucker101
I hardly even see why the term "stuck with " applies to a player with only 2 years on his contract.... unless the only purpose is to exaggerate. Miller will be gone before I throw away that jar at the back of my fridge with the one mushy pickle left in it. I think it has a pickle...it's too cloudy to see now.

So we spent 6M on a player that we're just waiting on to finally leave? Sounds like money well spent and a player that will be in high demand around the league. Basically like Sbisa, we're banking on a sucker to give us anything of value. What does that tell you about the contracts we're handing out? |

This is what I would prefer, but it won't do anything about replenishing our draft picks. - CubanBuffet
What would be better a second round pick or Markstrom being promoted and taught the ropes for the future |

The market will dictate their move. If the trade values are even in the same ballpark you have to keep Lack, otherwise it's open for debate. - Nucker101

Agreed, and I'd be pretty happy with that even as a Markstrom fan. Lack has proven to be a solid goalie in the NHL so the 15-20 spots in the 2nd round aren't worth giving him up instead unless a really good prospect somehow falls and is available at #31. |

Because i think Miller's contract is too short we need some stability in net.plus this will bring us until Demko is ready to take over then we trade both Lack and Markstrom for Draft picks and sign a cheap backup short term, someone like Budaj, Greiss, Ellis, Harding or bring back Labarbera Plus we can't get rid of The Pizza Man, Nucker might cry |

This could be Jim's way of doing a subtle tank. Wasted money on Miller/Sbisa. Vrbata signing (frank)ed him over but he can makeup for it by trading him for a late 1st. If he moves Hamhuis and Lack now and keeps Bieksa, he'll be set up nicely |

Lack is gone unless the return for Markstrom is markedly better, even if it's equal, the younger goalie will stay. Lack won't resign for less than starter money (4-6 mil) and won't accept being a backup. Markstrom at least is an RFA and will be cheaper to sign and groom. Miller will not be going until the TDL of his last year on his deal unless he asks specifically for a trade. |

It tells me this team isnt looking at the short term.... nor am I. I don't really care if it's money well spent over the next 2 or 3 years while we go through a transitional period... in fact, over achieving through this period will only work against us. The owner cares less about his money than you do. Stop being embarrassed on how he spends it.
We just got rid of a GM who was handing out 5 and 6 years contracts like it was the starting point on any negotiation. I'm more worried about who we have in the system that will improve on the plugs we have on D after the next 3 years.
Miller. Who cares. It was a solution to a vulnerability. Over achieving is one thing but then there is also a disaster potentially with seats already empty. The new GM comes in and plays it safe. Lack had shown he could be over played quickly and Markstrom still hadnt shown he could handle a start since the Canucks acquired him. He brought in a legit #1 on a short term contract. It was money wisely spent at the time. Hind sight is 50/50... but it's not a contract that can be called a blunder. I think more GM's in Jims place take this contract at that moment than not, all things being equal.
