are you placing your value in offensive stats only? - DDM-Coga
Overall value to an NHL hockey team....
Obviously RoR is better in his own zone...
Not sure why you are going on trying to compare their skill sets though. Kessel @ 8mill is a better value than RoR @ 7mill just like JVR @ 4Mill is a better value than Phaneuf @ 7mill.

Just making observation that Kessel @8mill is a much better value than RoR @ 7Mill.
Thanks. - Cooshie
Last season, Phil Kessel was paid $10,000,000 and he put up 25 goals. 61 points.

25 goals for an 8 million cap hit isn't much better if you ask me.
It'S not really an issue if you can contribute in other areas, but we all know it isn't the case with Mr. Kessel. |

So his one "down" year of 25 goals is in your mind what is representative of what his full contract should be worth. No consideration for any of his previous seasons? |

Yeah, so, this is my first post, and I wanted to ask how do you use a gif for your avatar whilst visiting HockeyBuzz on an iPad? I only have "take photo or video" and "use existing photo" as options. Thank you.

He is good in both ends of the ice...being a strong defensive player isnt just being good in your own zone.
The guy was 6th in Selke voting last year while again leading the league in take aways.
Hes a 20-25go 55pt kind of guy, but his skill set can be used in all three zones. He creates scoring chances bc of his defensive ability, striping the puck at mid ice or in the offensive zone and able to feather passes to pure scorers like Dutch or MacKinnon.
I just think you get a lot more miles out of a guy like ROR. PK, PP, offensive or defensive zone starts. To me that is better overall value to an NHL team |

Let's see what he does next season.
He'll be 28 when the season starts. And my good friend prock once told me that most players start to decline right around that age! |

I have a sneaky suspicion that even when Kessel does return to his 35goal / 80+pt self, you will have some other reasoning to why his value should be deflated.
Call it a hunch!

No I think the Leafs would get a great return on Kessel.
I think you're the one undervaluing other aspects of the game (aspects that Phil Kessel doesn't possess) |
