3.6 for one more year. Personally I'm not a fan but I would take him as a Sbisa replacement.

He isn't fleet of foot but he would actually bring some toughness and crease clearing ability.
I doubt he is being shipped for only a 3rd or 4th, that sounds like some hopeful fanbase to me.

I'll be surprised if Virtanen makes the roster ahead of Kennins, Baertschi or Grenier.

I will be happy if he earns a position but there are a lot of RFA's who are waiver eligible for next season.

Clendening, Corrado, Vey, Baertschi, Kennins are all essentially guaranteed a spot once they get signed. If Grenier is resigned, and imo it would stupid not to, he also will be guaranteed a spot.

Vets need to be moved just to accommodate this, adding Virtanen, Cassels, Gaunce, Shinkaruk, McCann as some have been doing makes things even harder.
Out will be Matthias, Richardson and possibly Higgins/Kassain/Hansen and one of Lack/Markstrom. Bieksa or Hamhuis are also possible but very unlikely.

I agree word for word. I would also be wary of someone that a team as starved for D as the Flyers would be willing to move for that cheap. (Yes Nucker, I said starved for D).

Think it is a little premature to assume Grenier is guaranteed a spot. Should get a contract but not a roster spot. Waivers might make this tough though. I am not sure even kenins would be guaranteed a spot. Going to be interesting to see what the GM has in store for this roster. Listening to that interview on tsn it sure sounds like he has Jake penciled into the line up.

I didn't think he'd go for it, but I'm coming around to the idea that Kevin Bieksa might actually get moved at the draft.

That, plus more from Jim Benning and a quick Comets preview, in today's blog:
