sick bastids! (as zogg would say)

I get queasy when I see some of those hits or when a guy is squirming on the ice.

Some people are not reasonable about the coaches decisions. Look how much stress media and fans put on a coach to play prospects. The coach's job is to win games. If it is so important to get kids in the line up ready or not... then it's the GM's job to make the necessary room on the roster and force the issue with the coach. People cant expect the coach to sit players who a better at the moment for a rookie... they just don't operate that way. Remove his other choices and then the rookies are in the line up sink or swim.... problem solved. This just floats over people's heads(not you).

You are right, aside from exaggerated exceptions from a couple of fans, no one expected Horvat to play this far ahead of his age with no pro exp. Can't blame the coach for it. He made the right choices when Horvat proved he was good to go. People pretend that never happened... because he didn't expect Horvat to make it prior to his 9 games means he was going to send him down regardless... and had to be intervened.... that is pure baseless speculation and doesn't even add up.

I thought it was great when he was able to do that conditioning or rehab stint in Utica. He must have shown he could be defensively responsible- not be a liability, and was good on the draws too.

WD did his job. Best option for a 4th line centre-extended look, WD may have watched some Utica game tape too, lots of input from the group, he earned it.

Wonder how the core treated him? Some new writing on the wall.

I know its just talk, but Carolina is wanting defenseman and Skinner would be a trade chip. Benning should send edler there way and get skinner.
- phyllee

Agree Carolina has always been high on Edler get 'er done.

Also Luke Schenn is a tough defender, read somewhere he could cost from a third to a fifth round pick
- phyllee

We want Braydon not Luke.

From Twitter;

In news that's going to catch fire in Buffalo and Vancouver, Sabres GM Tim Murray tells WGR 550 the club could buy out Cody Hodgson

- VanHockeyGuy

Please if there is a god...no Cody here...

feels like the bottom fell out. just knowing the guy has his marbles scrambled and is all weak kneed.

Even to see a limb twisted a way it shouldn't...

Get a bidding war going with Edler.
- VanHockeyGuy

Exactly. From what I had heard before CAR-PHI-DET and even MTL have shown pretty big interest in Edler...he's better suited for the east anyway.

I only get like that when I see something being cut off.

Ex. Fingers, ears and other extremities.

The problem with Skinner is he's one concussion away from possible retirement. He's a quality player but he already has a history of this type of injury and each time it happens it's almost like an exponential effect. I think he's just too risky to take a chance on in terms of exchanging an asset

He is a good young hockey player but I wouldn't touch that contract because I think you're right he is a bandaid forward. High risk for sure.

True, but not a bandaid. If it wasn't for the concussion issues he would be a future top 3 forward.

His game has changed so much because of the concussions that it is also a big issue for me.

I think he was and still is a top 3 forward; however, it's all about his health issues. He's now had, what, 3 concussions? and he's still fairly young. You know that, the way he plays and his size, another one is inevitable somewhere along the road which might unfortunately take him out of hockey altogether. I hope that's not the case because he's a good non-nonsense type player but I just wouldn't risk any sizeable assets on him in a deal

I don't think that Friesen's hit was vicious or even was penalty worthy, charging for the puck he shoulders O'Neill who didn't seem ready or prepared to take a hit, O'Neill needed to be stronger on his skates.

is it more, am i looking at it wrong or do all of the salary cap sites have next years cap at 69? is that a for sure? I thought it was going to be 71.5 last time I saw. or is the 71.5 if the players use that 5%.
- manvanfan

That is what is being speculated most recently, James Mirtle from teh Globe and Mail had a good piece about it.

http://www.theglobeandmai...ext-year/article24800206/

he speculates that the players might opt to only use 2.5 % of the escalator instead of the whole 5%, which would mean 69.3 million cap hit.

No, not that I'm aware of...just responding to Carols mention that maybe a penalty should have been called...like you I don't see it.

Alright thanks. I was hoping for more of a 71 for the cap then van would have about a million per player.

Just an idea for your Avatar.

Thanks.

I had to look it up to figure out where it was from. I've never seen Archer but I know it has a pretty hardcore fan base.

Sounds like Cheryl/Carol is a pretty crazy character. I'll have to take a look before I consider adopting her...

Your're right, we should make them take Sbisa off our hands as well, that would make it a little more fair.
