Agreed he has been excellent on the Comets , now he has to do the same on the Canucks. Mind you Comets do have a better D - VANTEL

I'm heading to Owen(trout to 20 pounds) in the morning. Milburn... I don't really fish it although it's a interesting little lake. I like Bouchie better. Where else can you hook up 75 times in 4 hours lol - boonerbuck
They stock it with Char every year(or at least according to some of the old guys I work with) but I don't have a boat, so I guess I may do some shore casting |

Not sure what the deal is, Nucker is absolutely right about his stance with respect to Miller and Sbisa - those deals STILL really irk me even though I've now had a fair chance to let things sink in (especially with respect to Miller). I just try not to mention it too many times but, yes, as you know, for the record I think those are two big mistakes by Benning and NOTHING can sugar coat it. If I see more moves like this, it is only reasonable I will have less and less confidence in his abilities. Please note, however, it's not like I don't think he can or want him to succeed, I'm just going by what the small sample size has given us. So, don't blame Nucker, blame Benning. - Zogg
For what? For shuffling the deck, adding Desjardin, Miller, Bonino, Dorsett, Vey, Sbisa and a 101 point season? The team went from 6th last to third in the Pacific.
IMO he gave Miller a year too long and overpaid Sbisa, by a lot, on his extension. He definitely got it wrong with Sbisa, which is concerning, but if people think every GM gets every move right they should look around the league.
Some things about him concern me, but he needs way more time before I give him a pass or fail. |

You forgot to mention the mess that he inherited. I think he's done an alright job so far of cleaning up.

Here's a fact most people won't like; if Ryan Miller had played 62 games this year and played at the same pace he did in the 45 games he did play...well he would have finished in the top 5 for goalies in the NHL. People here need to run good goalies out of town though I guess. |

The team had a good regular season, they even did well in California; Benning came in blind and I believe he believed in the team. He gave them depth and a chance to prove themselves. They failed in the post season.
So - he's outwardly said the team needs to get younger and faster, to me, he's learned from that playoff failure. Now it's up to him make that happen, younger and faster.
I fully expect him to draft better this year as well, last year he had a month to meet everyone and prep for the draft. He's now had a full year on the job. |

Transitions almost never go this smooth in any industry the 1st year. There is always going to be people with serious questions also people seriously criticizing and over annualizing every move. I for one am giving our new leader the benefit of the doubt. He's earned the respect by going through every level to get where he is. I like Miller deal sue me. Sbisa deal is a tough one to swallow. Kesler deal Benning swam through lagoon came out smelling like roses on that deal. I like both Clendening and Baertchi deals as I think both will be on the opening roster.
What I am getting at is people need to give JB some time. Jesus Crisco he has barely even gotten his feet wet after only a year. |

You know, I'm just here to shoot the poop about hockey because I love the game and the team. I sincerely respect everyone's opinion; just because our opinions may differ doesn't make either wrong, just makes them different.
Vantel is one of the best on here because he's passionate about the team, he constantly throws out ideas by the bunches, which is great for conversation, to which I mostly disagree with LOL. But when we're done...we always laugh about it...and that's the way it should be.
People who cry wolf regarding Benning after only 12 months on the job and a 101 point season....baffle me. It's fair to criticize and disagree, but for an aging team they did well. Benning has added some good young players, I'm looking forward to seeing how the next few year pan out. |

I think, but I've been wrong many many many many many many times before, what you see is what you get.
I don't see him improving much, bad deal but whatever, every team has one. Lord knows I've made a few bad decisions in my life, Nucker is the only one with all his life experience who's never made a mistake |

I don't feel that the Sbisa deal hurts that bad. There is no NTc. 3.6 over 3 years is not crippling. I do feel he was overpaid by 1 mil per but in the grand scheme of thing we are far from being hurt by it. He will improve. Plus he is the best skater on the team. If there is one accolade I can give him that is it he can f2cking skate. |

Like you didn't know everything when you were his age cut him some slack. He is a good poster. I don't always agree with him but he takes the time to look up stats and try and back up what he is saying regardless if we agree. |

a little canucks in these dry times
http://www.tsn.ca/radio/v...-pick-for-goalie-1.306119
Benning confident he can get a high pick and sounds like Virt. will make the team, provided he has a good summer. Sick currently though. Most of this we know but at least it is some hockey talk and not a soap opera.
probably won't be moving up in the draft |

He is a good poster. I enjoy bantering back and forth with him. Hopefully he hasn't taken all this too serious and we see him back around draft time. |
