New Jersey did it when they acquired Schneider and the fans seemed pretty happy. - CaptainRivet
Exactly, its something that would be femaled dogged about by fans and forgotten a week later. Its going to most likely e a top 10 pick so its not like we would be getting back a bag of pucks |

Right but they did it at the draft, not 1 year before. Don't want to give up a pick thinking you won't be bottom 5 then a year later at your own draft your fans have to watch the other team pick the better player. |

I completely disagree. I think Terry Pegula is letting the hockey guys do there thing, but trading next year's 1st is where he would step in. No owner would allow that to happen. - adambuffalo

But if you're trading a potential top 5 pick, you'll be getting a damn good player in return. I'm sure most fans won't forget that or mind that. |

Exactly, Id rather trade a potential top 5 pick than wait and try to deal the 12th pick overal. The most value for that pick is right now. |

Top 5 protect it.
Make it a 2017 1st and 2016 3rd if it's top 5 in 2016. |

It's more about the spectacle of the event anyway, in my opinion. The draft pick would just be a cherry on top. |

Alternatively, Trade #21, 31 and 51 for around #10 or 11 and:
#10 or 11 Werenski or Zboril - turbo044
How much more would it cost to get up to #8 and take Provorov?
Might be worth it. |

Make it a 2017 1st and 2016 3rd if it's top 5 in 2016. - dadeadhead
That is the best way to go and undoubtedly what Murray would attempt to do. |

100% agree, not to mention next years draft has a lot of Euros. So most of the early picks will be guys I havent watched all that much, except for say the World Jrs |

Id think more than Id like to give up. We arent hurting for back end help. Feel like he waould sit around in the minors longer than he needs to be |

#1. No thank you. There is no place for Kessel here. We don't need someone like him on a young rebuilding team to set a bad example for our young guys.
#2 I'd do that
#3 Don't need either of those guys for the amount they will demand in FA. They would not line up in our time frame. - adambuffalo
I completely understand your response on Kessel idea. I just think the same of Hodgson and rather than buy him out, get a #1 RW for him at manageable cost by ridding Hodgson's contract while taking off some on the back end. Wont happen anyway. #3 would only be if Pysyk is traded and signing one allows more time to not rush McCabe and takes some pressure off of Risto and Z coming into the season. Good points though |

Don't think #21, 31 and 51 gets you in the top 10, nor do I think there will be a lot of teams looking to trade out of there?? |

Maybe CLB, but I think they would want a NHL body to get out of that spot |

On Nash...
I am surprised by this, but it is looking more and more like Rick Nash will be moving on. Detroit also has interest here, along with the Wild and Vancouver....keep an eye on Buffalo with Nash I was told.

Nash is the greatest player in the league besides Troy Brouwer. |

Problem is there's no one available that would fit that category. Any player on the market right now acquired using that pick would be a big overpayment from us.
By comparison, the first seguin deal got the leafs an incredible goal scorer and even that deal was scrutinized for a half decade.
The impression i got from the WGR guys after their interview with Murray is that it's unlikely we see that kind of deal this summer. |

I am almost okay with seeing what this roster can do without any major free agent or trade addition.
