I wouldn't be surprised, if McCabe ends up being a top pair defenseman for us
It's smart that they're developing him slowly
I'd love to get Roy or Kylington at pick 21, but if Konecny is there I just don't know how we can pass on him?
Maybe we can trade up from 31 and get one of those defensemen also
Murray did say he wants to pick a goalie early in this draft though
It'll be interesting to see what he does
I'd trade either of our 2nd rounders from last years draft for a 2nd in this one |

Funny how people disregard the fact that he played really well when he got decent ice time/linemates (and that was just like Gionta and Foligno). I want to see him on a good team with good linemates. - Herzeleid
throw larsson in that mix
pretty much everyone but coho

I bet Nolan reminds Cody of his father, and caused a mental block. Hodge has a lot of turtleneck hockey in him. Bylsma will give him the tire pumping he needs. |

I think Murray saying he wants to pick a goalie early in the draft is a total smokescreen.
They have plenty of options coming up in their own system and there are also solid options in the UFA market that could be used for a 1-2 year stretch that would do a good enough job to help the team while they're young goaltenders continue to develop.
I think Lindback would be fine as long as he got the bulk of the work. |

Garth's blog has Reinhart's interview with Sylvester and Peters yesterday. Anybody who is inclined to look past him and focus on Eichel should give that a listen: it's a very informative 10 minutes for any fan of this franchise.
At the end of the interview, they ask Samson whether he is 'motivated' by all the attention the McEichel story line got this year. His answer kills:
"That's never really been a worry. I really don't think about that. I have been able to play with McDavid lots of times, and against Eichel twice. They showed alot."
From the tone of his voice, you can tell the unspoken thought is this: "I played better than McDavid, and we beat Eichel." The kids gonna be a star.
PS - I am a huge Eichel guy. |

Just read on Spector that Bieksa or Hamhuis could be had for a 2nd round pick because the nucks really need to free up space. I wouldn't give up 31, but 51 for sure for either guy. Would throw in a 3rd for next year too if 51 isn't high enough. |

Unless you're sending Zadorov to Roch, I think the 2d rounder is too much for a 3d pair guy. And my plan wouldn't have Zadorov in Roch. |

Send Weber to Dallas to play for his buddy Lindy. He needs d help. Trade him for a prospect like Brett Ritchie. |

Over in the Nucks thread they have been trying to move Hamhuis and Bieksa to anybody that would take them. Like Schultzie said, it would mean someone like Z or Pysyk/McCabe would be in Roch. Murray wants to keep the team young so not sure where they would fit. We have the vets (Gorges, Bogo) to fill those needs. Besides, Bieksa @ $4.6M for 1 more year at 33 yo and Hamhuis @ $4.5M on 1 more year at 32 is pricey. They can spend money other ways. |

That's Bieks's cap hit. Actual salary is only 2.5m |

Depends on the player it brings back.
If you get a really good player that helps the team win you aren't winning the lottery. I wouldn't bat an eye if an offer sheet went out and we had to give our 2016 1st up to get said player.
If you can get a top line RWer I would do it in a heart beat and not look back. |

Those offer sheets go both ways though... We do them and they hit us back with Eichel, Risto, Sam, etc... contracts come up. |

That's why you lock your players up during the season before they go into rfa. |

That becomes up to the agents, who are most likely drooling of the thought of an offer sheet.

And what teams would have the ability to offer sheet a player to the point the Sabres wouldn't match?
Cap Space is tight almost everywhere. I wouldn't worry about it.
Also nobody went after Edmonton with offer sheets. Nobody went after Philly with offer sheets after they went after Kesler.
IMO you are worrying for the sake of it. |
