As would I. My point was more that you can't really call one of the most shlt on players in the league overrated. - CubanBuffet

He had a good regular season and a terrible playoffs. We have enough of those. Outside of the Sedins, who I thought were great, and Horvat, who might have been our best player, the rest of our team was mediocre to painful to watch against Calgary. - CubanBuffet
He is a big game magician. Guy completely disappears when it matters most. I can't stand how loved he is throughout the league. |

Bettmans pet project money pit and he just won't succumb to being wrong. Did you see Scott oake interviewing him in gm 4 of the SCF? Everything that came ot of Bettmans mouth was deflection and horsh**t. The bobble head Bettman was going strong he may be a bigger tool than Rick Nash... |

Some believe #canucks Dman Kevin Bieksa won't waive no-trade without contract extension in place. #NHL - VanHockeyGuy
Then he will enjoy Buffalo . Another player trying to force Mgmts hand . Benning should say give me 8 teams or pack your bags you are moving to Utica unless some team picks you up. |

Can't do it. Can not do it. We don't have enough valuable assets to let anyone go for free. I would rather make him a healthy scratch until he comes around, but I don't want to do that either.

The 4.6 cap space would be enough of an asset. The Canucks paid him very well for years and he thanks you by saying that? Screw it let him go play in Buffalo. Then we can put a guy in his place that doesn't screw up and we can sign someone else |

If we're not going to be competitive next year then whatever asset that we are able to get for him would be more valuable then the cap space.
As I said before about Kesler, I have no problem with a player exercising a clause that is built into their contract. He may be overpaid now, but I do believe that he left money on the table for that NTC. It's the NTCs that I hate, not the player for excercising it.
Finally, if a player is told that they are no longer in the team's plans and asked to waive, I doubt that "the good of the team" would be in the forefront of their mind, and I don't blame them for that either.

Not even close. It's like trying to dine at the keg and it's packed and someone says there's an A&W two blocks away |

If Bieksa says he wants an extension or he is not waiving , if the other team doesn't like the new deal , then you are on the hook for more years.
If Bieksa says he is not waiving , you won't get an asset anyways.
I take the cap space we have tons of RFAs and I tell Bieksa don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out |

If that's the case. I'm dubious of rumours that come out of Vancouver and disbelieve all that don't out of principle. |

How about granting the extension, although he would have to give up his current NTC, he'll get another 4yrs but Canucks can trade him anywhere, which hopefully will be a tad better than the way Kesler left. |

I would love to get an asset back but most importantly , I am opening up a roster spot and freeing up the cap space.
Moving Bieksa out allows Clendennining and Bartowksi and maybe even Frankie COrrado in for that cap space |

How many trade partners would want Bieksa at 4 mil plus for 5 more years? I am going to guess 0 |

Maybe you're reading into it wrong, I think he means he won't accept a trade unless the team that he's going to waive for offers a contract extension, not the Canucks. I can't see a player holding up a team like that, that's a sure-fire way to get blackballed around the league. It's one thing to decline to waive your NTC, it's a whole other thing to say if you don't give me an extension first, I'm not waiving my NTC. |

Maybe . I was under the impression he wanted Canucks to extend him . If it is the other way then sure , just trade the (frank)er IEither way though this year he is gone |

Any chance Bieksa starts the season in Van... then if we are in the tank by TDL maybe by then he will come around and just want out? |
