So be it, go somewhere else. Don't need him for what he'll command. - TheSabresTaco
But you will take Nash, it makes no sense. Your hatred for ROR is unreal. |

I agree.
Risto, Reinhart, Eichel, and Girgensons top that list - Stripes77
Agreed. Those are definitely on my list of guys that better be in blue and gold when the season starts. |

It makes perfect sense.
Nash scored more goals than every single Sabre had points last year except for 1 player.
It's the same reason I would rather have Kessel than ROR.
Nash and Kessel produce and get paid to produce. In this instance you're paying a guy $7 million a year who has never scored 30 in this league. You can talk about it being the going rate and it very well might be but I don't want my team paying him that "going rate" |

What does it cost though?
Does Nash waive to come here?
It starts with 21 and an A prospect.
Nash - Eichel - Kane
That's a top line. - ImThatGuy
Ennis, Grigorenko, and 21 would be my guess. |

Last time I checked, the great Ryan O'Reilly has just two playoff appearances in his career, and both were first round exits.
As long as playoff success is a measuring stick on here. |

What has Nash done for the Rangers or the Jackets ? NOTHING. ROR or a player of his age is what Murray is looking for. Your team Huh
Everyone wants a cup but doesn't want to pay players |

I concur with 89.
I wouldn't mind ROR because of his versatility, and owning his PRIME years.
I wouldn't deminish our defense to get him.
I wouldn't trade Tyler Ennis, his age, his production, for NASH.
You put ENNIS with a top center or a very good one, he gets 30/30 at half of NASH's Cap and his motor is ALWAYS ON! |

I don't need to explain myself again regarding Dippy. Nash would serve this team 10x better than him. Like Stripes has said twice now. Neither do it for it, but if I'm picking one or the other, Nash 8 days a week. |

We've discussed this several times.
ROR is of age. Yes. ROR is not of need.
I'm not here to soap box the need to trade for Nash. The discussion has apparently turned into one or the other, and I pick Nash because ROR does not serve this team's needs. |

ROR plays a 200 foot game and is just starting to enter his prime.
Nash plays a 200 foot game and scores goals but is on the exit route of his prime.
Just food for thought. |

Oh yeah. I know the pros and cons. But what it boils down for me is this:
7 million dollar, 50-55 point play making center. Done.
How about Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart, who are projected to exceed those numbers. Look at me, I just saved a bullpoop contract and a bullpoop attitude from entering our organization, while (likely) trading for someone of use, like a scoring winger! |

Thats the conumdrum: ROR isn't a NEED but is versitile with age and ability.
Nash is a need but doesn't have age, will be helpful during our two development years rather than our Playoff push years. Nash is better than Ennis but Ennis is part of our core becuase of his age and his effort/cap ramifications. Oh and we get him for FREE |

Ryan O'Reilly inflated his own value way too much. It's a good move for himself personally, because he was able to pull it off, but the amount of assets that you would have to give up plus the contract you would have to sign him for just doesn't do it for me.
Plus, Rick Nash would potentially only be on the books for 3 more years. If he wears out his welcome, you can easily trade him (NMC doesn't bother me because, as we've seen, teams have been able to make it relatively worthless) or even just let him walk without too many consequences. |
