Oh yeah. I know the pros and cons. But what it boils down for me is this:
7 million dollar, 50-55 point center. Done. - TheSabresTaco
I'm not so sure he gets to 7 mil.
He might get 6.5 but IMO re re-ups in Colorado 8 for 50 with the 1st couple years at 8 mil per. |

Thats the conumdrum: ROR isn't a NEED but is versitile with age and ability.
Nash is a need but doesn't have age, will be helpful during our two development years rather than our Playoff push years. Nash is better than Ennis but Ennis is part of our core becuase of his age and his effort/cap ramifications. Oh and we get him for FREE - MEBSabresFAN
This is why this has become a lesser or two evils discussion. |

I really hope he re-ups in Colorado, and I don't care for how much.
It ends this conversation once and for all, and, if the rumors are true that the General Manager is hell bent on getting him, saves Tim Murray from himself. |

Ryan O'Reilly inflated his own value way too much. It's a good move for himself personally, because he was able to pull it off, but the amount of assets that you would have to give up plus the contract you would have to sign him for just doesn't do it for me. - buffalofan19
While I don't disagree the assets it will take to get Nash are higher than it will be for ROR.
Dubinsky, Erixon, Anisimov, the pick that became Kerby Rychel, and future consideration is what it took to get Nash. |

His value has dropped of course, he is the type of player the PENS need for Sid not for the SABRES |

They'd also want roster players who can contribute immediately, not exactly a surplus of ours at the moment. |

There are several statues I'm currently praying to for this to happen.
Murray was also "hellbent" on trading for McDavid too. So there's that. |

6.25 mil for a 24 year old 50-60 point guy is the going rate at the moment.
Pominville is at 5.6 and Vanek is at 6.5 both are in that point range both are in their 30's. |

Nash just had a 40 goal season.
His value is still very very high. |

If he's a free agent and can play right wing full time, yeah, I think about it. It's the trading thing that chaps my ass.
Hypothetical, Ennis and RORzilla as your top 2 RWs. Are you happy? Considering we have to challange the likes of TBL, Hawks and Ducks. |

Nope not happy, both are good second line RWers, but I want more scoring from my top line RWer |

There are a lot of things I look at where the "going rate" is really high bordering on ridiculous. I pass on purchasing those things 99.9% of the time. I consider Ryan O'Reilly in that category. |

I was going to respond about how you don't see trades that monumentally poor that often...then I realized that this is Glen Sather we're talking about here. |

Joe Morrow is going to be a solid defender for them too. |

Right, but money poorly spent is still money poorly spent whether it's mine or not.
My overall point is just because something can be bought at the so-called "going rate" doesn't make getting it a good idea. A trade plus contract for a guy like that is a mistake I'd rather someone else's team make. |
