You can't be serious...

You wouldn't trade Zadorov and 31 for Nash but you would trade Zadrorov and 21 for Stepan?????

- Stripes77

I would rather that as well

Stepan is criminally underrated, better age as well.

21 + 31 for 12 + 49?

Options could include, Zacha, Meier, Connor, Crouse. Kind of a best of the rest pick.

He also plays a position of strength that the Sabres have in center, has only scored 20 once and then you have to figure out who to move to the wing.

Or you acquire a 40 goal scoring RWer for less..

apprently, a 50 point center is more important than a 40 goal scorer who can take over a game (in the regular season)

Gives them flexibility to make another big trade or you can shift reinhart to RW. For 10 spots in the draft order id rather have the 24 year old top 6 C than the 30 year old winger. But this could all just be me seeing with blinders as he's one of my favourite players so forget everything said

YOu know what happends when you ask us to REED

In my head thought you meant dealing 21 cause there would be those guys there

Meir apparently is looking great and projected to be close to NHL ready

Yup, also bound to be someone who falls a bit, could be a steal for us.

I'm not denying he isn't a good player at all. Just with Eichel, Reinhart, and Girgensons I would say the Sabres are pretty set up the middle and it's on GMTM to get great wingers for them to play with.

I would rather see Moulson on line 1 with eichel and nash, that way kane could play with reinhart. I think reinhart and kane are better suited to play on the same line.

That's true, there's something to be said about having natural wingers in your lineup. often gets overlooked in favour of the "just move your extra centres to the wing" solution (which is starting to bug me).

The only problems I have with NASH:

1. He has an 8 Million Cap Hit
2. Giving up Ennis/Zadorov/First Round Picks
3. He will be 33 when we enter our strength
4. He vanishes in the Playoffs
5. He won't waive his NTC to go to a 30th Place team
6. Ennis works harder than he does and will be scoring 30+ when paired with a Top Center
7. Watching Zadorov Skate/Score/Hit in a Rags uniform will make me sick!

Although I would be for a ROR trade I have severe doubts on him signing an extension with us. Way I see it either he likes Colorado and signs a BIG contract or he will test his greed in the open market with 29 teams driving up his price. Colorado and he didn't have the greatest season last year and are primed for a comeback. He went from 28 goals to 17, so if he has a big year this year he will want to cash in even more. It would suck to waste all those assets to see him leave out the door in only 11 months. Not much incentive to sign a contract with a other team this summer unless they grossly overpay wich will hurt the sabres cap in 4 years

Agreed. I think its important to surround your franchise "saviors" with the proper talent.

Have you watched Nash play? You're acting like he's Vanek. He works plenty hard on the ice.

+1, I feel that when a player has elite talent like Nash he makes things look easy. He dosent appear to work as hard but Nash works smarter and has more skill.

Here me out on this...this is my dream scenario for this off-season and its for a speedy rebuild:

Trade: Zadorov and 21st for Nash
Offer Sheet: Tarasenko (St. Louis doesn't match remember its a dream) $8.4 million cap hit 2 firsts a second and a third
Sign Oduya: 3 years $14 million
Sign Neuvirth: 3 years $9 million
Buyout: Hodgson

Nash Eichel Tarasenko
Kane Reinhart Ennis
Moulson Girgensons Gionta
Foligno Larsson Deslauriers
Grigorenko McCormick

Risto Bogo
Pysyk Oduya
Gorges McCabe
Weber

Neuvirth
Johnson

My theory is by the time Nash's contract is up Fasching should be ready and Kane moves up to the first line.

All of this fits under the cap.

The real question is can Neuvirth be a true #1? (in this scenario anyway)

In reality Tarasenko and Nash wouldn't happen but I see Oduya as a possibility

If we are contending I wouldn't rule out Nash resigning either. He wants a cup.

Having Eichel, Reinhart, Bylsma and Girgensons could go a long way

I agree about buying out cody, and trading for Nash, if the sabres buy out Cody and do a package for Nash centering around ennis, they wouldn't be adding any cap.

I like trying to get stuff for free though, so my ideal offseason:
Trade for Nash
sign justin williams and Mike green.
goalie market is overloaded, so acquire one via FA market, or by shipping out a 2nd. I'd personally would want to monitor Toronto and Bernier.

I'd like to keep Ennis in anyway possible if I am trading for Nash. Ennis on the 2nd line would be pretty nice
