i wouldn't mind that either.. that way we don't have to give anything up.. but i have liked what i have seen in Darling, but i can't see chicago giving him up while still having a year or two (?) on his ELC - IndianaSabresFan
Yeah, Darling is dirt cheap for them right now and they need that. Big time. Especially when you consider that the starting goalie is making $6 mil. Gotta even it out somewhere.
Raanta could be interesting though. He's been in their system a while and with the emergence of Darling, they could be looking to move him. |

I wouldn't be adverse to trading the 21st pick, Phil Varone, Jeff Jillson and the locker room fridge for Talbot and Nash. - grand-magus

Honestly, I'd be fine with us signing Niemi. We have a lot in the system and at some point one of them is going to pan out, so we really just need a stop gap. I think he could fit nicely. - HonkFortheGoose
I'd be on board with this.

Wrong fridge.
He's clearly the team's cafeteria fridge.

That's the win now plan, with a core of young stars. The minute those old guys become part of your core, you're up poop creek. - TheSabresTaco
They got Hossa a few years back in his 30's and he's paid of for them 3 times now.
That's where I see Nash in a few years. The best complimentary player in the league |

Sounds like Philly for the most part. They always seem to blame the goalie. Bob got shuffled out of Philly faster than he knew what hit him. Probably better off anyway in Columbus. He's been stellar for them. - HonkFortheGoose
knee jerk reactions.. Biron is the hot commodity so they sign him, Bryz is the next one so they sign him, a very young bob blew a few games get rid of him..

Sabres Core:
Risto
Bogo
Zadorov(?)
Reinhart
Eichel
Kane
Ennis
Adding guys who are old(???)-er would be damn good "Complimentary" pieces.

i guess we could take a chance on him, but i didn't see anything in him that made me feel he was going to be a starter. maybe a solid back up eventually |

they paid big for hossa but they had to have looked at him and saw he was an alround solid player and even if he slowed down a bit his positioning and smarts would allow him to be a solid compliment with a butt load of experience. Can Nash be that guy? |

I think so. However I'm not trading a ton for him.
I think his value is really high, but with his cap hit, 80% of the league cant afford to take his salary on, and not ship any out. Nash to the Sabres makes some sense |

I have no problem bringing in some older guys, but I think we need to wait and see what kind of older guys we need. Hard to know what the complimentary pieces should be when you don't quite know what you have right now. |

I lost all respect for Ditka when he kept giving the Fridge the ball at the goaline and never let Payton get a TD in the Super Bowl

I wouldn't be adverse to trading the 21st pick, Ted Black, the rights to Paul Szsechurahurahurahura, and the ghost of Paul Cyr for Nash and Talbot. |

But then I got all my respect back for him from his award winning role alongside Will Ferrell in kicking and screaming |

Reading HF boards a Rangers fans said he would take this for Nash:
If the Sabres offered Grigorenko, Foligno, Lindback and a 2nd , I'd do that. That would allow the Rangers to package Talbot with Glass. They would get a backup goalie. A huge upgrade on the 4th line in Foligno. They get a player in Grigorenko who should be able to be a 20-25 G/A guy. |

Hossa was a free agent who was signing 1 year deals with the teams he believed were the best chance at winning the cup. Its a much differwnt scenario than trading for nash.
Id trade for nash, i think he is a great player who has a few good years left but were still a few years away. |
