Gien his stats along with all you've said Phil must be the most talented NHL'er ever. - RogerRoeper
Not even close. I wouldn't take him for anything more then a 3rd rd pick and mid tier prospect and the laffs taking at least enough to get the cap hit to 5.5-6 mil max |

I know, but if that trade actually took place...I would hand in my Flyer fan card and never look back. |

Phanuef isn't coming to LA.
Like I said before Kings need to get rid of contracts not add them.
Richards isn't worth poop doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. He's worth something if picks/prospects get added and even then I'd just rather buy him out (likely solution anyways) than take on s bad contract and lose prospects. I'd rather LA retain 50% of his contract for a low pick than get rid of a top prospect for essentially nothing in return
- LUCKY67
Aside from Kempe and Zykov, there isn't anyone in the Kings system that can really be considered a "top prospect", and neither of those kids are going anywhere. As far as I'm concerned, pick any other player in the Kings farm system and ship him out with Richards with no retained salary and no money coming back to LA, and it's a win for the Kings, regardless of the return.
The Kings have Shore, Weal, and O'Neill all coming off excellent seasons in the AHL, and all of which will be waiver exempt next season. The Kings only have spots for two of them on the NHL roster, so one of them will be gone at the end of training camp anyway. Trade one of them along with Mike Richards for a mid-level prospect or a 3rd round pick and be done with it already.
A Kings buyout is really a last resort if there are absolutely no reasonable offers out there, as the Kings will have a cap hit of over $4M in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons if they choose to go that route, and there will be cap ramifications until 2025. |

would you want the flyers to let go of Giroux for a 3rd and mid prospect, while retaining 2-3 million?
people are seriously undervaluing a guy that literally only played bad under a new coach for half a season. Kessel with 42 points in 40 games under Carlyle was putting up a 86 point pace. That is 1 less than the league scoring leader got.
256 points in 252 games with Carlyle, before Horacek came along and tried to change the leafs into a defensive team.... |

PHL: VL, Umberger, Amac, L Schenn, B Schenn
TOR: Phil and Phaneuf - arichardson22
So two cap dumps, two overpaid d-men, and one decent 2nd-3rd line center
Shanny hangs up on the flyers right away unless they offer up the 7th overall pick and Brayden Schenn for Phil |

Ottawa has some big contracts to hand out: Stone, Zibanejad, Hoffman. Taking on Colin Greening's contract would have to be included inthe discussios (2.65M x 2yrs) if they're going to consider Richards. |
