I bit last week and got my first ban ever. He never makes an actual debatable comment just points out how anything we say is a joke and he knows this and that and Vantel said this a year ago. Riots Blah blah blah. Its not just here either he was doing the same in the flames tread( I think NUcker got a ban). Its his game to elicit any response. Fool me once. If you don't have an actual debatable comment move on. I would take on mod duty but I work to much. I don't have time to waste with people like him. I have already wasted too much with this. - thundachunk

2 2nds?
Here's the thing. Columbus has 12 forwards and 8 D on one way contracts without the likes of Marko dano, Alexander wennberg. |

Yeah, like Timmonen got? Yeah that's fair.
( Bieksa>Timmonen IMO, but that was a brutal over pay so I think it balances out). |

Trades aren't just about draft picks. Most of they time there are throw away players just so teams can get to the right number of contracts.
Was a terrible over pay. I figured Morin and Prout would be equivalent of around 2 2nd round picks. Cheap, young, serviceable players van can use. Columbus is going to need to make space for some of their up and coming prospects. |

I know you would. As would I. I just don't see too many teams taking on his contract for just a 2nd. Also just a 2nd doesn't give us any useable players. At least if we get Morin, we get a guy who has played in the league and has shown some promise good for a third line LW. In Prout we get that physical presence on the back end to replace bieska and a real cheap contract at just over 1 million. Saves us 2.7 and then makes Higgins even more expendable.
It's kind of like getting Clendening for forsling or trading our 2nd away for Baert. Just moving the process along. |

Were the Comets a better team than the Canucks this year |

A useable player won't help us next year. We need to start thinking 3 years down when everyone is gone |

No idea , the league is changing quickly every year. 33 year olds are considered dinosaurs now.
I think in 3 years Chicago will be anchored by Kane and Toews.
Players prime will be 22-28 |

Average is usually 27-29.
now
Bo 20
Zack 24
Ronald 24
Vey 23
in 3 years Bonino, Dorsett, Hansen will be 30, 31, 32
now
Clendening 22
Corrado 22
Stanton 25
Tanev 25
Sbisa 25
in 3 years Edler will be 32.
That's who will probably be on the roster in 3 years. Looks like a poop roster to have in it's prime. Van needs a few more players that will are somewhere around the 24-26 range. Exactly why Benning went out and got Sven. he's filling the gap. |

A bottom 10 finish in the next three years will make that a lot better. I don't expect Sbisa Bonino Vey Stanton to still be with the club in three years

Vey had a nice rookie season and showed promise to get better. Might be able to trade him for slightly more than we paid for him. |

I am not sure if most teams know who he is, this is his make or break year. I want to see how he does this year |

From 2007 to 2011 we have had zero prospects make the team and even if the one did, they are now gone. Missing all those players in that age range would be that 23-27 age range. By using some of the older players we could get some of those age range prospects to fill that gap. I'm not saying trade every old guy for a guy but if we can get 2 young players in that age range that have NHL experience is a plus. A second rounder this year won't help us for probably 4 or 5 years and still he will be just a rookie. |

The past is the past.
Last year Bo made the team and they brought in Vey . Two players last year and it sounds like as per JB , three more this year and maybe 5 .
Corrado Clendenning Sven, and maybe Markstrom and JV . That is not even mentioning Pedan who is waiver eligible . That is a lot of change in one year
I forgot Grenier also |
