Once the Sedins, hamhuis, burrows go who will be our core?
- manvanfan

McCann, Cassel's? Who knows, as long as the chemistry is right and they battle hard every shift. Something I question about the team as it stands today.

Mute the Sedins then. That's how they start every press conference out of principle.

This issue has been mentally masturbated since the end of the season. I'm onboard with Vantel and the rest who agree a blow up is the way to go. Start with the blue line.

The Sedin's are good players, they love VAN and would like to finish their careers here. Why wouldn't they waive to get a shot at a SC? They won't win one here, and getting an opportunity should be important to them. If not, herein lies the real problem.

I think if Bo and Virtanen can prove they can take over the franchise as the faces of it, they'd retire immediately. I think the only reason they're staying now is because what else would we have if they went. The problem has always been having a succession plan in place for when the Sedins aren't 1st line players anymore.

It's here (not bloody likely) or nowhere I think. Even if they agreed to waive, and even if you could find a team with the cap space to absorb their combined contracts, it likely wouldn't be to a contender.

Edit: it was almost sad watching them against Calgary. They played their asses off and were dominant, but the rest of the team wasn't anywhere near good enough to even make a series of it.

Back to chemistry again, they did play well. The rest of the team should have played with the same sense of urgency. Go to war for each other!

I am not sure if most teams know who he is, this is his make or break year. I want to see how he does this year
- VANTEL

Like most players Vey needs to be paired with the right complimentary linemates and proper minutes. He has playmaking ability and offensive upside but his defense and faceoffs needs massive work. I'm sure they will look at it.

lol how many first round picks do you have and when is the last time you even made the playoffs? How many more years do you think before you will be contending for a cup?

The pitsburgh blogger made an article of Vrbata for Sutter. If that deal happens we better get more back

I ragged on him last year, but he's still young. I hope he comes to camp prepared.

With a couple of astute moves EDM could very well bump VAN out of the final playoff spot next year. (not that would be a bad thing)

I don't see the Canucks making the playoffs next year particularily with everyone else getting better.

As long as we hold onto our picks, missing the postseason is not so bad. Just want entertaining hockey.

If we can get two 2nd rounders for Bieksa and Lack that would be great. Add another #1 for Vrbata and you have a big win. I'll settle for 2/3 though.

Depending on how the rest of the summer plays out, I don't think that either is a playoff team, but I would be stunned if they finish ahead of us. It's not just a matter of finding a goaltender and some top pair defenders (a tough task itself) but they also need all of their existing players to adjust to a new coach, system, and commit to playing a more defensively complete team game in general. They'll get there, but it'll take time and I doubt it will happen next season.

They have a lot of picks/prospects/players at their disposal. Fix those weak area's and anything could happen. It's a new look team from the top down.

Pull a Garth Snow and trade for players that are too high salary for their teams to retain them.

I don't see us getting more, but I can see either a propect and a pick being exchanged.
