Thats a consideration I agree. But Hunwick stepped in seamlessly when Klein was out for a long time this year. Also, Lindberg is an upgrade over Hagelin IMO, he's considered by coaches as a really really good 2 way player, enough to compensate for hagelin's penalty killing and defensive play. Plus he adds another Center to take faceoffs when needed. Lucic will offer more offense than Miller and St Louis combined this past season. The bottom six is virtually the same except for JT Miller and Lindberg changing.

Maybe that's what you're hoping but you can't sit here and tell me that a guy who has never played or played a couple of games is better then Hagelin already. C'mon man. I get it your a Ranger fan and like most fans you think every prospect is the next best thing but the reality is any rookie who replaces Hagelin is going to be a down grade going into the next year.

Dan Boyle's $4.5M comes off the cap and hopefully Brady Skjei is ready for a roll in the 6 man unit. His on ELC. Kreider gets a traditional Rangers bridge deal that will get him about a $2M raise to around $4.5M for 3 years. That still leaves $2.5M for Lucic to possibly get a raise....it just keeps going on and on. Tight, but continously manageable with minor moves. Tanner Glass and his 1.45M deal comes off too, which can be replaced with a kid like Buchnevich coming from the KHL on another ELC.

Yeah it can be done but I just don't see them gambling like that for a guy like Lucic. That's a lot of ifs for a guy who isn't a game changer IMO, plus you think a stanley cup contender is going to have a minimum wage goalie with hardly any NHL experience as a backup to their 32 yr old goalie. You can't expect every unknown to pull a talbot

Yeah, every move like this is a gamble. I just don't see the negative impact as much as the potential positive gain. Rangers are desperately in need for size and snarl and some more scoring threat. Its a gamble I don't see much downside to.

And with Lindberg, I just don't see hagelin being anywhere near the impact we expected 3 years ago. He's got some good qualities and maybe its because the Rangers never had the proper roster spot for him in the top 6, but on this team, he's basically a great penalty killer, fast 2 way forward. Maybe on another team, he gets a chance at top 6 and can start producing more on the scoresheet. He's got the skills and the hockey sense to make plays, the Rangers have just been too deep to give him that spot. So yeah, I think Oscar Lindberg based on what the coaches in the AHL have said and based on what Gorton has already said is ready to be a 3rd liner for us. From what I've seen, Lindberg has great IQ and his 2 way play is in the likes of Stepan's defensive IQ. A chance I'm willing to take to get a powerhouse like Lucic to add to our top end strength. I'm just picturing the amount of space he would create if Paired opposite Nash. It will be really hard for any team to stop Nash and Lucic paired on both sides.

Hagelin is what he is and that's a 3rd liner. My point was that next year whatever rookie replaces him won't be as good as him this upcoming year. Not saying a couple of years down the road. I get what you're saying. I don't see the Bruins trading him to the Rangers to begin with and I think they would have better offers out there for him just my two cents. I guess we'll see in a month or so

Not to move off the subject of Boston trade (I know where I am), but I would also love to get the 16th pick and then package hagelin and the 16th overall to Florida for the other hayes brother!!! That would also address the size and net front presence we're missing and who wouldn't wanna see Kevin and Jimmy playing together!!

Henderson thinks Krejci has zero trade value?
- Nucker101

and he thinks the oilers will offer sheet hamilton.

Henderson - do you think a 5% increase in provincial taxes makes it more or less likely for hamilton to accept an offer sheet?

Why is Henderson still allowed to blog on this site?

Let me save you some time... the 16th for Talbot and Klien isn't happening. Horrid, horrid asset management should that come to pass.

Cue Oilers fans their poopty trade proposals. At least the Islander fans produce logical trade offers.
