Ben Smith wasn't a cap casualty, he was traded at this year's deadline for Andrew Desjardins.

Of that entire list of players...including the forgotten Byfglien...the ONLY one I miss is Andrew Ladd. He is the one that is a big body AND is a leader.

PS...you also forgot Brian Campbell and Kris Versteeg on your list after 2010.

I think all this RFA signing like Saad, Tofoli is a bit ridiculous. I don't see teams giving up a boatload of prospects for 1 guy. You're better off working out a trade or finding bridge players in FA. You're better off keeping your prospects and building a sustainable model rather than mortgaging your futures for 1 player...

Oh, would somebody please trade for O'reilly so I don't have to hear about him anymore.

I hope the Blues have major changes on the way, but you're out of your mind if you think they're going to trade the entire top line in the offseason.

Tim Murray could package his 21st overall pick in the EichDavid Draft along with former 12th overall pick Grigorenko, top four D monster Nikita Zadorov, and a second rounder in 2016 in exchange for the 200 foot terror in O'Reilly.

Same old proposal, same old (frank)ing bullpoop, same old Garth

The key here is that NONE of the players on those lists of what they let go could be considered irreplaceable.

If the price is right...by all means...pounce on a veteran, cup-winning player like Patrick Sharp. But don't lose sight of the big picture. The Blackhawks have drawn out the blueprint of exactly what it takes to win...and thankfully our GM is currently sprinting down the right path http://my.hockeybuzz.com/...er_id=85200&post_id=16859

Stay the course...the pieces are falling into place.

Big Buff is pretty good. And they took back Versteeg.

Anyway, they found a way to pick up some depth elsewhere (be it by drafting, trading or UFA).

Trade Zadorov. As Don Cherry pointed our years ago, Colorado should have just given ROR the C and that's that. Instead, the Avs are banking on the Landeskog, (whom I think is overrated, borderline bust) and Ducene. ROR is old time hockey in a nice package who has Captain written all over him.

Do you forsee Zadorov as the Captain of the Sabres for the next 7-10 years?

Landeskog a borderline bust? That may be more ridiculous than anything Garth has ever posted. Well done.

I used to want Ryan O'Reilly to be traded to Buffalo... but now I can honestly say that I hope he gets dealt to another team. The price that Garth is willing to pay is absolutely ridiculous and makes me thankful we have Murray at the helm, even though he will likely overpay in some aggressive trade, as well. I, for one, would really like to see a trade for Rick Nash or Jeff Skinner. If you have Kane / Eichel / Ennis on the first line and give Reinhart a true sniper on the second line (along with Moulson or whomever), then you have two very dangerous lines at the top. Reinhart passing to Nash would be quite entertaining to say the least (and take a ton of pressure off Reinhart). Having Girgensons and Gionta on the third line with Foligno would round off the top 9 quite nicely. A sniper for the 2nd line is critical to the Sabres competing for a playoff spot this season. That being said, I'm not against the idea of missing the playoffs one more season (but not finishing dead last) and taking a shot in the lottery for a Top 3 pick next year.
