Teams know Chicago is in cap hell.
No one is getting into a bidding war of those two.
2nd for Sharp
4th for Bickell - dadeadhead
The "why" they are being traded is irrelevant. The number of suitors is what will determine the price and there will be several. I suspect he would get something close to what Perron got as he still has term left.

Figure Hartman makes versteeg or Sharp expendable.
Terovainen makes Sharp expendable
So there is a nice chunk - hubie
Versteeg is on a good cap hit at 2.2 |

I think Sharp has a good chance of being traded, not to here but somewhere - hubie
The main issue is they're both going to be tricky to move due to each having a NTC. Since they can limit Chicago's options, it could actually reduce their value to them more than if they didn't have one at all.
The fact that Bickell has a NTC makes me want to vomit.

I believe they only have 14 players under contract next year. Both of the above mentioned are moved out, Saad is resigned, and they fill out the bottom 6, and bottom pairing with vets that want to sign their for a year, like they did with Richards this year. |

Read JJ's blog.
Richards is likely to re-up on a very cap friendly deal.
They also signed Panarin |

We're only talking about current contract, not three years from now. |

Perron had more value as he had years left on his deal and is in his prime.
Sharp has a 5.9 cap hit, is not in his prime, and Chicago is in cap hell. That equals a poaching. A 2nd and a minor prospect at best is what they'll get. |

Does anyone find it a bit unusual that Bust Reinhardddt's celery goes from 925k to 832.5k in year 3 of his ELC?
Drouin got the exact salary. Different performance bonuses.
Wondering if there's an actual reason why this happens. My only theory is that these types of players are expected to be in the NHL by year 3 and this mitigates their cap hit by a few thousand. Don't understand the point of it though. |

ELC slide.
The 92.5k bonus still gets paid though.

That's the page I was staring at before I wrote the post. It doesn't explain the ELC slide. - TheSabresTaco
the 92.5 is a signing bonus that is paid automatically whether or not they playing the NHL/AHL or not.
The bonus gets paid and the contract slides a year. |

Oh I get ya.
So if a contract slides, the signing bonus is removed from the cap, which is the same thing as the base salary when dealing with ELC's.
I think I got it now. |
