Nash is much better all around player than Kessel.
I wouldn't be opposed to Kessel ppg players don't grow on trees, however his contract is like another 6 or 7 years.
Nash is actually a very complete player he also kills penalties. His contract is for 3 more years. Very cap manageable.
ROR is a good player but not one I want to pay $7 million a year for.
Glen Sather is the GM of the Rangers he doesn't exactly hold other GM's ransom for getting the most out of players, I mean he traded his captain and 2 1st rounders for Marty St. Louis. I would think you can get Nash for less than the other 2 players. - Stripes77
I'd have no problem paying ROR $7 million a year and Sather also acquired the guy that is their captain for Scott Gomez, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one |

proven wingers are needed
I am ok flipping ROR to the wing, as long as he is extended
not gonna lie, a second line of Moulson-Reinhart-ROR would look good
Kane and Eichel would be a pain for the other team
Girgens would always be a pain for the other team - homiedclown
Gonna post this again.
Let's pretend I'm a vegan, I don't eat gluten because it's trendy and I like ROR.
And let's say we trade for ROR in fantasy land. A 55 point center.
And let's say we only trade for him if we see him playing wing 95% of the time and fills in at center during injury.
And let's pretend he's not asking for 7 million dollars.
Now let's say Ennis and ROR are your top 2 RWs for a cup contending team facing off against Tampa, Rags, Ducks and Hawks.
Are you happy with your top 2 RWs? |

Dan Boyle got 2 years 9 mil
My guess is Soupy would be worth 2 years 8 mil total
3rd line D
top line pp
soupy/pysyk would be a great 3rd pair if they ship gorges ass out of here - homiedclown
I'm reserving all my judgement on Gorges for this year. I want to see what he can do on a team that's not trying to finish in last place and not playing injured for most of the year. I also think he's more than capable of being a 5-6 guy. But he was in over his head on the top pairing at the start of the year. |

The question isn't whether they should add "Some" Vets, of course They Should,
Discussions seem to always go , ALL or NOTHING on here. I have never suggested we shouldn't supplement our roster with Vet players......Its only the cost of our talent pool that I have a disagreement upon.
You do realize we have/had on our roster last season:
Gionta - 36 yrs Old
Matt Ellis - 33 yrs Old
Moulson - 32 Yrs Old
McCormick - 32 yrs Old
Beniot - 30 yrs Old
Strachen - 30 yrs Old
Mezaros - 30 yrs Old
Ok so explain how we DIDN'T have ANY Vets on our team last year????
Let me explain this verrrrryyyyyyy ssssslllllllooooooowwwwwlllllllyyyyyyyyy
If we can aquire an aging Vet that Murray likes for a "Reasonable" amount or for Free, they we should, we are not currently in the stage of development to OVER pay out of youth stock pile for a STAR 30+ player.
P.S. Many of Chicago's 30+ players CAME to THEM to play because of their patience and youth development into Talented Elite Players. - MEBSabresFAN
Outside of Moulson and Gionta. Who are B-ish players. how many of those guys are worth a damn. Yea they are vets, but all them playing on your team will result in your team sucking.
Ellis, Benoit, McCormick, Mezaros, Strachen all combined for 34 points. Or 8 points less then Nash had goals.
Those guys are all 4th line plugs or 7th d-men.
Combining all of those guys, they barely break the top 200 in terms of total points.
I think you are confusing vets who can play V guys buffalo signed to make it to the bottom.

Dan Boyle is employed by Glen Sather. Keep that one in your back pocket. |

I like that he hates losing. I think he has the right kind of personality that I want the young guys around. I just think they need to put him in more of a position to succeed than Nolan did this year. If they do, I have no problem with him on our roster. |

I agree, I dont see Gorges as an issue at all. Def not a top pairing guy but a guy id love to have who has no issue taking a puck to the face or wherever to block a shot. |

Ok, I was not suggesting in ANY way that I want those players on our team, just showing that its not Black/White when it comes to posters suggesting that people who don't want to give up CORE memebers of our youth for 30+ players, we aren't asking for a team of ALL 25 and under......
I totally am aware of why most of those players were brought in, why Nolan was hired, the only three Vets on that list I would consider keeping around for our youth are
Gionta-(nice leader, showed a lot at end of season) Would dump tomorrow if I could
Moulson(Loved the signing, must admit that I know he needs a center, but I expected a bit more from him, I still value him and our young centers need Vet Wingers, he will improve!)
Gorges-(What Ever) Coud care less.......I like trying to acquire Oduya or Martin for free |

This is the different in opinions. You consider Zadorov a core member others aren't so sure.
Also you listed 3 players out of 23 that have any sort of veteran leadership. That is not a lot. |

Last year Moulson played in 10 more games than Nash and had 12 more points than Nash.

He's not really grit/knuckles but Svechnikov could be a good option at 21 for our LW depth.
Bittner/DeBrusk are fine too but i think Svechnikov has a higher ceiling (riskier pick though). |
