[quote=TheSabresTaco]Gonna post this again.
Let's pretend I'm a vegan, I don't eat gluten because it's trendy and I like ROR.
And let's say we trade for ROR in fantasy land. A 55 point center.
And let's say we only trade for him if we see him playing wing 95% of the time and fills in at center during injury.
And let's pretend he's not asking for 7 million dollars.
Now let's say Ennis and ROR are your top 2 RWs for a cup contending team facing off against Tampa, Rags, Ducks and Hawks.
Today: Idk maybe?
After we win the cup with ROR and Ennis top 2 rws... I told you so

Last year Moulson played in 10 more games than Nash and had 12 more points than Nash.

"Tim Murray hasn't been one to shy away from big moves, but they've all been for players who are still rather young. Now that the tanking is over, could he make a move for a veteran to help the team win now? Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said on Calgary's Sportsnet 960 that he wouldn't be surprised to see the Sabres in on a possible trade for Rangers forward Rick Nash.
"The team I think to watch in something like this is a team like Buffalo," Friedman said, as transcribed by Chris Nichols. "They already went out and they got Evander Kane. I could see them being interested in a player like Nash too. Tim's a bit aggressive that way. But again, I'm not 100 percent convinced that one's going to happen.""

What would they want for Nash honestly? It'd take more than Pysarenko1 and I think it always comes out to be too much for our taste.
That being said I'd love to have him on our team as a vet who can actually lead the scorers by example. In 3 years he's something like 33 and could hopefully chip in a few goals but not be the main focus |

This is the different in opinions. You consider Zadorov a core member others aren't so sure.
Also you listed 3 players out of 23 that have any sort of veteran leadership. That is not a lot. - Stripes77
I agree, I want to persue Talented Vets, of teams that need Cap Relief, I just don't want to give up as much as others want to. I really think Murray and Pegula like ENNIS's talent level and committment to the SABRES, they truly believe in having guys here who REALLY WANT to be here. I respect that and would only trade ENNIS in a blockbuster deal.
I also don't want to Trade BIg-Z , Pysk, but would be open to offers on Reuwhedal (I like our defense, I would pick up Odyua or Martin and Defense is done for now.)
Wouldn't mind prying Yandle away from the Rangers, would be pricey, but great return. and a need.
I'm ok with Nash with his talent and warts( all players have em') for the right price.
I wouldn't even mind Kessel ( but his TERM is tooooo long)
Evandar Kane was a perfect storm and Murray knocked it out of the Park.
Lets be honest, I would be much less excited about our team, if we still had MYERS , Armia, Lemuix(blow me) Stifford, and whatever else went there,
I'm pyched that MURRAY knew getting a STUD Winger with Age and Power would be a perfect way to welcome Echiel/Rienhart/ or McDavid to the Sabres and he NAILED IT! |

I'd say that's probably fair, maybe a little low on our end. I'd still be hesitant just because I do like Zads and I want to see what he can really do. |

I don't like the look of the roster as them being the top 2, but if they win, I'll buy a ROR jersey and wear it the entire next season, and not vomit on it. |

I like Zads as well but you gotta give to get.
If Murray made that trade it would tell me he is ready for this team to turn the corner.
Edit: It would also tell me the rest of the league is taking Buffalo as a serious destination if Rick Nash would waive to come here. |

Not so sure.
They get a defensemen that can play in the NHL right now who does have a high ceiling.
They get a 1st round pick that they don't have this year.
They get a good 3rd line center prospect
AND they get cap space to sign their RFA's.
You talked about getting talented vets from cap strapped teams. The Rangers are one of those teams. |

I agree with that assessment of Murray's mindset, I don't believe he is that ready yet. So much time before the season begins.
At least we can all have a civil conversation about hockey players and building our team, the nights of watching our horrid team win in spite of our horrible team were draining! |

Well said.....
I would do it if Murray has doubts about Big Z, if his staff see's him near his Ceiling, I'm a no go.
It could get interesting if they include Yandle, I would then open up the box of toys a bit more! |

Best Suggestion so far.......
I love Foligno but you have to give to get and if both teams get value back this works for me!
Foligno is the closest player to being part of the "Core" but isn't there yet....and I would have to give up his size/grit/ along with a nicely developing LARSON plus First Round Pick and Compher
Nash should be worth that, and if not we can recover due to our depth at Center. |
