The quicker this team really sucks (like Torts suck) the quicker the NTCs will ask out = rebuild underway.

As far as comments from last blog about Higgins , here is why I want him gone.

He is not a 2 nd line talent.

Marwood and others agreed but said he is a good third liner. I disagree with the term good.

He is a third liner on a middle to bad team. That is what we are now. We are aging with 9 of our 23 man roster over the age of 30. Most are towards mid thirties as it was described on the team 1040 this morning.

We don't have a lot of speed , skill , or toughness. We have a safe team that will make the playoffs and be bounced in one round.

Higgins is taking a spot that a player like Gaunce Baertschi Kennins or others can play.

He is a safe player. Like our D they are safe. If that is our goal to be middle of the pack or just squeak in then he is perfect and so is Bieksa.

It's tough as I'm sure Benning and Linden are looking beyond the Sedins but the Aquilinis want the team in the PO's regardless of getting punted 1st/2nd rd.

I'm hoping for another 5 player switchout this coming year. We had Vrbata, Dorsett, Vey, Miller and Sbisa (plus a few others) in the lineup regularly.

So Bieksa, Richardson, Matthias, Higgins and potentially Burrows (TDL?) spots should be up for grabs.

Virtanen, Cassels, Baertchi, Corrado, Clendenning...Gaunce or Jensen?

Baertchi and Corrado should be locks but let's hope Virtanen and Cassels surprise at camp.

Well everything mgmt has said and done points to this being the plan.

I don't know about you but I was thoroughly entertained this year by the Canucks and while disappointed they didn't beat Calgary, I definitely cant call this an unsuccessful season from my perspective.

I think some forget or don't recognize what world class talents the Sedin's are and expect that this team will be able to replace them once they retire.

They might be on the downswing, but sit back and enjoy the show as I doubt we will see that quality of player wearing a nuck uniform for a while.

Might be one of the worst teams to make the playoffs in the history of the NHL.

I think Benning will address toughness skill and speed this year but to do it he needs to clear salary and roster spots

That has been the challenge ever since the Sedins have become top line players, the next step is to go and sign, draft, or trade for the rest of the team. More contributors.

With that bounce back season, I'd guess management is still hesitant to make some big moves. So far we have mainly seen picks/prospects for prospects sort of moves.

He budgets paying salary to the cap. Wants the minimum return to be 2 playoff dates.

Maybe that is the wrong way to look at it and is why a team like Toronto is where it's at. Then you look at a team like Detroit and where it is at, all the post season appearances. So much of it has to be drafting and management. but I admit, it is harder to draft dynamic players outside of the top 5.
