I was going to say that.
I think one gets moved. I am starting to wonder what AZ will do. So many holes and problems with that team and organization now. Would they move 3 for more assets? - J35Bacher
If I was them, I'd call Columbus and say I'll trade you the 3rd pick for 8, Toronto's 2nd rounder and Kerby Rychel |

Simmonds, 29, Hagg and 2015 3rd rounder for number 3? Then you get to pick at 3 and 7 - J35Bacher

I think Phoenix stands pat and takes Marner. I do think, however, that the Maple Leafs will trade down to get Rantanen. - mochoson
I don't see that. If they move down and pass on Strome and Hanifin and Provorov that would be really gutsy. Especially since they want to move Kessel and Phaneuf |

I'd be more inclined to move players for more picks than move down in the draft. - PhillySportsGuy
I'm inclined to do both, but I'd refuse any deal that takes me out of the top ten. |

The Leafs were reportedly hard and heavy scouting and interviewing Rantanen. If they trade down to 8 or 10, I think he'd be a target, as well as Barzal |

Can we just make it clear that a top 5 pick will not be traded to the Flyers unless a player like couts, Simmonds, jake or sanheim is going the other way. - PhillySportsGuy
Yup, either that or you are packaging something with the 7th pick which would be stupid, IMO

Would anyone move #7 to the Jets for #17, #25 and a player?
I was thinking about all the teams that have multiple 1st round picks. It would depend upon the player coming back for me to say yes. But I do like the idea of picking 3 times in this first round. |

I think so. There's always English dailies abroad, for expats, biz travelers etc. |

Not if they think Rantanen is going to be better than all of those players. |

Damn.
Toronto would burn.
Not saying it wouldn't be the right move. Just fans would be so confused if they didn't take the other guys |

For 17, 25 and Burmistrov, I might do it. Then try to move back up from 17. |

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that not a single pick in the top-10 gets moved this year, but not for lack of interested buyers. - Tomahawk
The only thing I could really see happening is if Hanifin and Provorov are both gone by #7 and a team like maybe Colorado is really desperate to draft a guy like Werenski, maybe they offer #10 and #40 to the Flyers for #7.
Other than that, yeah, you are probably right.

I think that Shanny is going to get a pass. Rantanen is a damned good prospect, and if he can trade down and get two or three extra picks, he might end up with a stellar class. |

Remember, he's the highest ranked European skater. There's a lot of highly touted guys from the CHL this year expected to go in the first 5 picks. Then there's Hanifin.
The best prospect playing on the other side of the world is getting lost in the shuffle because he doesn't have the sexy numbers, exposure, hasn't played on smaller rinks yet, likely 2 years away at the earliest, etc.
When it's all said and done, we could be talking about the 2nd best player in the draft. Who knows. Teams have their own internal rankings for a reason. Depending on what they got for moving down to get him, I dont think Toronto burns. |

I was thinking someone much better than Burmistrov....you actually just made me throw up in my mouth a little bit.
I don't get how his name is even still popping up places. He has yet to prove he's anymore than a dime a dozen player in is pro career thus far between the NHL and KHL.
I'd want a prospect like Nick Petan. I'd at least start the conversation there. |

That I might consider. The extra 1st rounder might entice me to drop to 17. Still some excellent players going to be available at 17 and 25, and if the player is a guy like Burmistrov or a prospect like Nicholas Petan, Joel Armia or Connor Hellebuyck you're filling some holes at the NHL level or organizationally. Even better if it's a prospect like Morrissey, which I doubt they're willing to give in addition to two first rounders |

Provorov, Zacha and Meier are being counted as NA players tho... most of Europe's best aspiring NHL'ers are in the CHL these days.

I'll take any of the guy's you just listed with the exception of Burmistrov. I'd even take Michael Hutchinson. Immediately fills the back-up job for next year. I don't think they're giving away Hellebuyck. I'd be ecstatic if we got Petan or Armia.
I'd loose my poop if we got Morrissey. I'm with you; that's not happening. |
