I think he was referring to the "cancerous Kessel" comment. I believe the comment was intended to refer to him as a cancer in the locker room, etc... but it was taken as a joke about him having cancer.

you know what i totally forgot about the cancer thing.

Got to love the dog days of summer hockey season, cup just ended, draft talk is a little too early, still 2 weeks before free agency can start up... Kessel to Boston will never happen.

Can't wait to see who the B's target in FA for a backup goalie for less than a million! C'mon Bryzgalov, 34 is the new 30 for goalies! He'd really spice up the squad.

Whats wrong with Jeremy Smith from providence. (is he a free agent? no idea actually) but anyways. . . he was really strong down there last year. Let Subban have a year (at least) as the main guy down 95 and have Smith ride the pine all year.

EDIT: Smith is an RFA, so i guess that probably won't work.

Not much of an NHL resume, but he was arguably the better of the two goaltenders in providence last year.

also, thought svedberg was a perfectly adequate back-up. he had two bad starts in a row, and they gave up on him.

i thought he looked mostly shaky and unsure of himself. they needed him to be better and he wasn't.

when you're trying to make the playoffs in a tight race you don't have time to let your back up goalie get over his yips.

I'm already dreading next season and it's not even July 1. No cap space, front office got it's balls chopped off at the deadline last year, then got fired then they rehired the #1 adviser during the old regime. Lucic will play out the year and then walk for nothing, paying Kelly another $3 mill as a 4th liner, paying Chara $6.9 mill to hope/pray he comes back to form.

Everyone looked at this team thinking they could win multiple Cups after 2011 but that dream died when they slept walked through games 6 & 7 in the Habs series and couldn't even get fired up for a Game 7 at HOME.

Vegas has this team at 16-1 next year to win at all and that seems extremely high them. I'd love to see this team wheel and deal at draft at least make this exciting.

wow. what's with all the sky is falling? they were a 96 point team last year and just missed the playoffs. they're in the process of making changes and some of the changes take time. a few tweaks, a major move to free up space and they'll be fine.

And instead they burned out Rask and didn't make it anyway

and? burn out rask and not make it or play a guy that puked on himself and not make it.

they did what they had to do to try and get in.

anyway i'd be surprised if they don't target a veteran back up on a one year deal

Just another terrific example of why Bruin's fan are complete scum. Frankly the entire city of Boston is just a big collection of poop.

yeah...

if it wasn't for the hockey hall of fame being in your backyard, you'd never get to see the Stanley Cup. Go (frank) yourself.

are you trollilng us?

Every part of Kessels game is what they don't want the bruins to be. Plays half the ice, whines a lot, has a hockey writers build, this was a story not worth repeating.

EDIT: and that's without considering the cap hit they cant afford.

The Bruins certainly could use Phil's speed and skill. They are in incredibly slow team. That said, their cap is screwed and I don't see how it could work.

Who is this Mike Reilly kid, D-prospect, that played out his time in college and now is looking to sign with someone other than the Blue Jackets that drafted him?

We clearly should have pressed a lot harder for Kevin Hayes, would of helped with our lack of RW to start the season.

Wonder if we are kicking the tires, because if he is any good then he would be a shoe in to play in our D right now.

They didn't have the cap space for Hayes when it was all said and done, was reading about Reilly today too, him at 1.5 vs quader at 1.5? Still can't do it without jettisoning some salary, or just send jelly to providence if they can't trade him...

He would be younger and I would assume would have at least a little better ceiling.

Combine that to the fact he would be cheaper then Quaider and probably doesn't have the injury history that follows Quaider and maybe it would make sense.

Reality is that our D as is will be.......at least right now.......

Chara-Hamilton
Seidenberg-?
Krug-?

Those question marks right now are rookies from providence at about $750,000 per.

Old guys we hope bounce back.....
Rookies we hope can play solid NHL hockey........
A small PP specialist.......

I know people disagree, but Hamilton is the most solid bet of our D core right now. He does not have anywhere near as many question marks as the other guys.

EDIT......Hayes would have cost us $25,000 LESS than Pasta at the beginning of the season, and would have been far more NHL ready size wise. Or we could have dumped Paille or Campbel.....ugh......sorry for being Mr. hindsight on this one.

Lol i thoroughly enjoy Phil Kessel as a player. He is very offensively gifted but he does not fit the Bruin mold. He doesn't battle and he never will. He shys away from the corner. The Bruins cycle and play defense. Phil does not do that. End of story.

Plus, cap hit.... If the leafs take half the cap hit, we will take him.

It is a disaster ready to happen.
