Kessel for Vanek, #20 pick this year and Alex Tuch? - PatC80
Minnesota wouldn't have the cap space to do it, even if they traded Vanek, unless they let all of their RFAs walk... which is possible... |

I agree with you. Base don needs, Mtl is the team that makes sense the most.
2 things that makes the trade more difficult to do, is:
1-Cap space
2-Rivalry
1-Mtl has no cap space but Toronto can take a lot of salary in the deal. If they really are in a rebuild mode (which i doubt considering Babcock's signing), they have advantage to take more salary back to get better pieces to ambrass there rebuild.
2-IMO, rivalry will not be the same if indeed Toronto is in a rebuild mode and Mtl in a contending one. If anything, Toronto will wants to finish at the bototm of the standings for 3-4 years to get the better picks.
I don't know if it will happen but i think it makes more sense than people think. - soad_live
The leafs have a plan to draft and develop, nothing is going to change that. Signing Babcock does not change anything.

Yup, unless Phil expands his list of teams to say 29, yeah he ain't getting traded any time soon. - Glak18
The list of Teams was submitted last off season, when the leafs situation was vastly different. He can submit a new list of teams again soon. I suspect after discussing with the new Management, he may be more willing to accept a deal to other teams.

I think cap space can be fixed. Toronto would have to take Paranteau and habs can ship off Gilbert or Emelin.
The rivalry may be an issue. Habs will be helping the Leafs future. I'd sacrifice giving the Leafs picks/prospects if Kessel was the missing piece to win.
If Kessel can repeat his 7 playoff games against the Bruins in the lockout season, then the Habs shouldn't lose to anyone in the east especially. Carey just needs goal support.

Is this list a recent one? Because I would assume it's the list from September unless someone has reported it's his new list. So it could have different teams on it now. |

So none of the teams he will actually allow a trade too. Gotcha |

I think a Phaneuf trade to Colorado could get the ball rolling.
Phaneuf and our first round 24th overall pick to Colorado.
We get Colorado's first round 10th overall pick. We get Ryan O'Reilly and their D'Man prospect Chris Bigras.
If we believe we can't get O'Reilly signed before the next trade deadline, we trade him for a first and second rounder (2016 draft) and a solid prospect. He will be the most sought after player, if available at the trade deadline. |

Probably fairly wide open now. I would think Phil would be the kind of guy who wouldn't want to stick around if he wasn't wanted. |

I was always told Phil never showed up in the playoffs (whenever his team actually qualified)
You'll never win with Kessel on your team. |

If we get Kessel, i better send Scherbak then McCarron. - soad_live
Yeah I don't think McCaron goes anywhere. i think the Habs are going to develop him into a big center.
sherbak is more skilled and would probably interest toronto more anyways. |

I thought it was every September, at training camp. Either way, point stands. |

When did Kessel submit that list? Was it last July, when the contract year started?
Because if so, that list may have just been the teams he thought he could win a cup with if he was traded at the deadline... without thinking it was a possibility.
He might be open to different teams now |

Trade Bozak first, & once he see's all the other team mates getting traded for salary dumps, draft picks & prospects, he will be more than willing to leave as well. |

I dunno. After watching all his goals just now on Youtube, i'd be tempted to trade everyone BUT Kessel, Bernier and Rielly. Build through the draft but keep these 3 guys. The only really good players we have. |

McCarron fits more the bill for TOR and personnally. I prefer Scherbak over McCarron |

You know, I could see Philly wanting him, and being willing to give up quite a bit if we take Lecavalier off their hands |

Bigger, responsible 2 way forward with good offensive skills. Not a future #1 Center in my opinion but a good #2 if not excellent #3. Plays like Jordan Staal but lite in my opinion as for potential.
Potential for top 9 power forward |

But again, at that point. Him or Scherbak in the trade. I wouldn't mind |

Kessel for McCarron (2013 Mtl 1st pick), Mtl 2015 1st, PA Parenteau and Jarred Tinordi (2010 Mtl 1st pick) - koarik91
That's a pretty good proposal. |
