JJ, Chicago HB writer, took a shot at our man Eichel on his blog. Read it if you care.
I feel he has a presence to come in and take over and show that he is the best. An Athlete that he reminds me of in other sports: Larry Bird. Ability to take over a game with a drop of a hat. - Watchtower62

Did you watch the Frozen Four? Having been there, I left very underwhelmed by Eichel. Good player sure, but not the generational talent I was expecting to see. Frankly, Ghost impressed more in his Frozen Four as did Johnny Hockey. Of course, two games is a CRAZY SMALL sample size but I guess I expected a lot more standing out.
Now, I didn't get to see the Championship game as I was on a plane to Cancun, but I did get to watch the game against North Dakota and he took that game over. It's not like they were playing a slouch of a team either. North Dakota is a power house every single year. If he didn't put BU on his back, they don't even make it to the Championship game. |

And in the North Dakota game, he still managed to dominate. There were plenty of times in that game where he had the puck and 3 guys all over him and still managed to make a pass right onto the tape of a teammate. |

He was impressive against North Dakota. He was invisible against Providence.
Jack Eichel is basically like whoever the guy was that came in 2nd to Usain Bolt in the 100m in the Olympics. That guy is still very fast, and probably wins against most if not all other fields, but he's still the clear-cut #2 for a reason.
The Sabres still should win a lot of games with him, though. As far as the entitled thing goes, it doesn't quite surprise me. Granted, this isn't indicative of the entire American hockey population, but there is a stereotype that follows the American youth hockey player as a rich, entitled, spoiled brat. Pat Kane was a carbon copy of that stereotype. Many of them do come from wealthy families who tell them how great they are. That being said, eventually kids grow up, and get a dose of reality. If Eichel is among those that need it, that doesn't necessarily make it the worst thing in the world. |

It's no surprise that the biggest stars have the biggest ego's and personalities. It's a common theme in all of sports. Every so often you get one that doesn't seem like that, but it's definitely pretty rare.
The kid also probably has a chip on his shoulder being that he's been told for the last like 3 years that while he's an extremely good player, there's still someone better than him. At some point, you get sick of hearing that. |

Although, you can bet that USA Hockey is one of the parties suggesting that he stay in college one more year. |

I'm not surprised. Everyone is generally going to low ball them to begin with, so if they set the price higher than that initially, the offers they'll get are going to be better than if they came out and said they only wanted a 2nd rounder or something. |

So then Chicago wants a cheaper younger version of Patrick Sharp, your best prospect, and your 1st round pick and in exchange you'll get the older more expensive actual Patrick Sharp |

Ditto that. I'd rather Talbot or Jones before Lack but if Lack comes at a good price then so be it. |
