The whole 2 way deal thing doesn't make a lot of sense because he'd still have to clear waivers and I'd imagine someone would pick him up - mattmoulson
he does not have to clear if he starts in the AHL. I think. |

Yes he does. He is not waiver exempt this year. This discussion comes up every year. |

I was just reading up on Dave Barr, the other assistant hired. He has had extensive experience as an assistant in the NHL with Minnesota, NJ and Colorado. He also coached in the AHL with the Houston Aeros winning a Calder Cup and Guelph in the OHL where they won the OHL Championship in 2003 and he was named coach of the year there.
I'd have to say Bylsma went with experience with both Muray and Barr and that is what was needed. Keeping Irbe too is a huge plus. - mhp
I'm going to listen to the press conference on my lunch. That is good to hear/read. I like the coaching experience and the concept that we have coaches that specialize in certain areas. Bylsma can help with the forwards, Murray the defense, and Barr with special teams it seems. |

I didn't read the blog, but Bowman said the other day that Crawford isn't going anywhere. They like what he brings to the team, they know he can win, so there's no point in moving him. - HonkFortheGoose
I really wouldn't read too much into that. GM normally don't comment openly about trading a guy.
Crawford would be easiest to move and get the most value in return when trying to free up space.
As long as the core in tact they are OK for a while.

After a player has been designated for assignment, the other 29 NHL teams can put in a claim or waive their claim for that player. The claims process starts at noon Eastern Standard time and ends 24 hours later. If only one team makes a claim for the player, then he will be transferred to the claiming team. If more than one team makes a claim, then the player will be transferred to the team having the lowest percentage of possible points in league standings at the time of the request for waivers. If waivers are requested outside of the playing season, or before November 1, then the player shall be transferred to the team with the lowest points in the preceding season.[4] If no team places a claim, the player can be sent to a minor league affiliate.

So should I also assume that when he said Saad isn't going anywhere either that he's just saying that?
I honestly don't think they're going to move Crawford. He's helped them win 2 Cups in 4 years. He's been pretty close to just as important to them as Toews, Kane, and Keith. |
|
|
|
Where do you get your information from? These heights and weights are way off...especially Schaller, he's almost 6-3 and listed at 209 pounds, not 186! Lol. |

I think the offer Bowman would need would have to knock him out of his seat before he trades Crawford. You can tell Toews likes him there, and that seems about as safe as a player can get in my book. |

I really don't think he's going to make it through waivers. I realize that most teams probably see the same things we do and know that he needs work, but if he ends up available for free, you best believe someone is going to snatch him up.
Murray is certainly in a pickle with him right now, that's for sure. - HonkFortheGoose
Zero chance Grigorenko makes it through waivers. Absolutely no chance. |

probably an old roster? or final weigh in weights? Most players lose weight throughout the season. It's rare they keep the same weight throughout the season due to the insurmountable calories they burn while playing/practicing.
I'm just guessing. I have no clue. |

Nelson, Kea, Sundher, Navin, Isackson, Jacobs...none of them have a future here. Nelson is already gone. Sundher is not returning. Isackson and Navin are not getting ELC's. Murray is getting rid of the dead weight. |

That sounds like a terrible way to end up over inflating contracts. You give a contract like that to a guy that's proven very little and then the Brandon Saad's of the world that need contracts are asking for contracts that are minimum 8 million. |

Anybody read JJ's Hawks blog about them trading Crawford to help their cap issues while Crawford is at his theoretical highest value?
They say the asking price is a 1st and a young player or prospect.
Another suggested they would want the 21st pick, Grigorenko, and Deslauriers.
I sure hope Murray doesn't pay either of those prices! - kingcong39
If the Hawks don't have a decent backup goalie and play Crawford throughout the 1st round this year they lose to Nashville. If they get that kind of offer for Crawford they should do it. |

In all seriousness, it makes more sense. They probably want to come away from this off-season with another top 6 centre and it doesn't sound like they're too big on strome (if he even makes it to 4).
And the Avs are looking for an established top 4 lefty d-man. Perfect way for shanadubahuntacock to kill 2 birds with one stone (phaneuf and his god awful contract) |

Oh I agree, but to homies defense I heard similar stories that backed up what homie said about Babcock to Buffalo, I'm just poking fun. |

Yea i get that, but it should serve as a cautionary tale. Just because it has legs doesn't mean it's the only one in the race.
Murray may want him, but he doesn't really have anything Sakic would want. Toronto does. |

Murray went after him hard at the deadline. I can say that with 100% confidence, and 89 can back me up on that. Plus Murray mentioned acquiring a 23-24 year old top-six forward. Huh. I wonder who that is |

Again, not saying they don't have interest, just that they aren't the only ones interested. And their needs don't exactly align with our surplus (if you can even call it that).
