I think this scenario is a sunday morning/fathers day dream.
But hell yes, if it could be swung....to draft Eichel and Provorov(based on his scouting reports) in the same year would be potential future game changer.
Great job on your Sabres Ramp-up blogs btw! |

They clearly are not trying to make the playoffs next season. It was spelled out very clearly during Bylsma's presser. - TheSabresTaco
I completely agree Taco.
What I was trying to do with that mock team roster I did for next year was to show what it would take to get the Sabres to potentially be a playoff team next year.
I never said they should do it, although apparently me posting it means I think they should do it, which is very funny. |

I hear ya...wasn't saying hodgson was the key...nor did I invoke feasibility studies as to the odds of murray actually being able to move up...just think a d-man like Provorov would be a player worth going after in that range if murray could find a willing trade partner - Michael Pachla
I'd love to get him. I also, that while Murray has the pieces to theoretically do it, those pieces are also what most of us like to consider untouchable. Think of it from the perspective of another team. If I'm going to move down 11 spots or more out of the top 10 of what some are calling the best drafts in a while (though McDavid and Eichel make this a bit more top heavy than normal), I had better be getting something really special in return as well. |

I think the "certain defenseman" they are looking at is Oliver Kylington . |

depends upon needs and wants...philly's loaded with defense prospects but are severely lacking center depth and only have two goalie prospects in their system...that said, I wouldn't be surprised if the sabres picked exactly where they're at, but this is the time of year to entertain wishful thinking, and have fun with it, but not be fully driven by it...we don't know what's going on behind the scenes |

Context is hard to read sometimes unless it's spelled out. But hey, I'm not hating, it's all good dude. |

His stock has taken such a hit this year, I wouldn't be surprised to see him fall out of the 1st round completely. |

31 then? Would you pick him there, by gambling on his availability and using 21 on a RW sniper? Guarynov (sp.), looks like a guy that could be had there at 21. |

Packaging #21 & #31 has got to at least get you to the #13/14 spot...
Anyone like Timo Meier or Nick Merkley?
Man, Lawson Crouse would be interesting if he slid. I'd love to have him in our pipeline to compliment Zemgus Girgensons. A cheaper & younger alternative Dustin Brown. |

We don't need another Zemgus. We need a Meier or a Merkley. Despite the fact that Crouse could probably join the NHL next year and score 20 points. |

Crouse could be a great compliment to Zemgus Girgensons, IMO.
A cheaper & younger alternative to Dustin Brown.
Move M. Foligno to a 4th line center role.
With the disappearance of the "enforcer"... An energy guy with, size, heart, & leadership; who can still play skilled hockey, may be just what that role is evolving into. |

I'd love if they could get him at 31. He's exactly the type of defenseman we don't have in the system. With the amount of picks we've had over the past few years, I think now is the perfect time to take a bit of a risk. He could end up a complete bust, but even if he does, it won't kill us. |

High risk/reward player. If this is who we want we don't have to do anything with our picks as he'll be there at 21 and probably at 31

Murray wouldn't be holding up his end of the bargain if he wasn't in on a young top 6 winger. Not that Skinner is my top choice, the guy has like 18 concussions. But if those concussions drive his price down, it could be a worthy gamble. Buuuut again, there might be a more reliable, more expensive option out there. |

This team has the better, Latvian Dustin Brown. We need scoring talent, not leadership workhorse talent. We've got enough of that poop. |

Ya, of all the draftees, Crouse is last on my list in the 1st round.
Not enough scoring, but he is a mountain of a young man...if he develops more scoring, he could be awesome. |

I dont think Crouse is a dustin brown type, he doesn't have the mean streak snarl to his game. He is very defensively responsible, been reading up on him a lot since he is a real target for the Avs at 10
I have seen comparssions to him more of a Jamie Benn mold |

Skinner's high-flying style is cut from the same cloth as guys like Pat Kane & Max Domi...
I have a feeling Skinner would/could/should compliment Sam Reinhart perfectly.
Though as a left-handed shooter, moving Skinner to the RW would open him up for better shooting angles and easier one-timers. E.Kane/Eichel/Skinner would be deadly for sure. |

Scoring is down, but his team was very weak upfront, not enough high end talent, and he had some of the worst lineaments out of all the top rated forward prospects. |

Even better. Benn might be the most dominant two-way player in the game today. |

High risk high reward with him. Has the tools to be a Benn but if he doesnt fully develop he fits the mold of a Jamie McGinn or Benoit Pouliot. You know you are going to get a Big Top 9 winger out of him at the very least that can plug into your Top 6 when injuries hit.
You will get an NHL player out of the kid, he won't be a bust that doesn't see regular time |

Sounds like a great side-kick for Zemgus Girgensons actually. |

I really want him if Werneski or Provo aren't there at 10. He would be the ideal winger for Dutch.
Every line gets their beefcake Winger. Dutch/Crouse Mack/Landy 3C/McGinn |
