How much does Crawford make?
Or Bishop?
Or any quality starter?
The only way u get a reasonably cheap "GOOD" starter is if u draft them & they perform well when they're young
But even then, they eventually get paid
That's just how much goalies cost now a days - jdfitz77
5.9 and 6 I think |

Anyone else think the Sabres will hold onto thier own 1st, 2nd, & 3rd round picks in next year's draft - Sabrehagan[2016]. in case they decide they want to tender one of the top RFA [Tarasenko, Toffoli, etc.] an offer sheet? The second they trade one of thier own picks in the 1st, 2nd, &/or 3rd rounds of 2016 draft you can cross offering sheets off the Sabres agenda for this summer.
Just wondered what everyone thought.
Is it better to keep those picks in hopes that they can sign a top RFA to an offer sheet without the other team matching or using those picks in trade for someone like O'Reilly, Okposo, or 'Fill in the Blank'?
We can afford to lose those picks now. i wouldn't lose any sleep if we offer sheeted someone that will fit rightin. |

Samsonov the goalie ? he's at least 2 years or so away. - SABRES 89
Blackwood is a freak of nature it be like drafting tightened like a Jimmy Graham there is no way he has samsonov raked ahead of him you can quote me on this he will be better then pekka rinne |

Of course I'd prefer not to spend that much on goalie
But that's just the price u have to pay if you want a good one
Only way to avoid that is keep drafting goalies & develop them, then move on to the next when it comes time to pay them
That really hard to do though
Guys like Neuvirth, Lindback, Enroth, etc aren't gonna cut it as starters
Not if we wanna go anywhere |

Why not?? Samsonov is ranked ahead of Blackwood in a lot of mocks. More than he's not from what Ive read. Granted Ive never seen either play so I have no opinion. |

I guess you may be right with that, i'm 50/50 with how much to spend on a goalie I guess. Can't argue with Crawford |

Only BC we'd end up with a good chance at Mathews in the next draft

Per the Buffalo News' Vic Carucci, Matt Cassel was "easily the worst-looking quarterback" at Bills offseason practices.
"Cassel doesn’t move well, he doesn’t always throw the prettiest ball, and has easily had the worst-looking practice performances of all of the quarterbacks," wrote Carucci, who isn't the first Bills writer to dog on the 11-year veteran this spring. With spring practices in the books, it sounded like E.J. Manuel was the best of the bad among Bills quarterbacks. Still, odds are Cassel will get the nod to start come Week 1 unless he completely faceplants in the preseason.

Is Lurch Lindback? Sorry, I don't have the HB legend handy. |

Loui Eriksson is still my favorite trade target. Most talent for the value and still under 30. |

It's certainly ideal to not pay a goalie 6mil
But if that's the case,
We better draft Samsonov or Blackwood

Per HB's JJ
CRAWFORD
Teams are calling about the Chicago netminder but the Hawks are absolutely not dealing him unless the cap comes in lower than expected. Then you can expect robust discussion. |

Nope, that's been proven the last couple years we lost the lotto
I think we'd realistically be in the running though if we only have a mediocre goalie

I don't see us within 12-15 points of last place even with mediocre goaltending. |

I don't get how Cassel is the favorite. Rex likes Tyrod, Whaley drafted EJ |

I think so, not sure
But if we don't wanna pick top10, we're gonna have to do better than the crap goalies we had last year
Ya, thy all played well at times
But that's not nearly enough to think thy could be a legit starter for 60+ games & have good results |

Because he's the vet and this team isn't 'rebuilding" where you'd go with the young unknown QB. My thoughts anyway |

IDK, TM is brutally honest with the media, to a fault sometimes. I don't think he takes a goalie at 21 if we even stay there......maybe, maybe at 31. Goalies just don't get drafted high anymore. |
