I don't have a problem with Niemi for the most part, but he'd probably need to be replaced by the time the team is really competing due to the fact that he's 2+ years older than all the other guys people are mentioning. I like the idea of trying one of the younger guys instead and hoping they pan out the way we'd like.

I agree but if Murray moves a 2nd for either, I think he's committed to them starting, and hopefully he picks the right one. After the deal you offer 3yrs 10m I would guess they accept, and then you cross your fingers

This is why I keep saying that if we're going to trade for ROR, it better not be until after July 1st when they can have Colorado offer him an extension and have it signed before he's traded. Otherwise I want no part of a trade for him.

I see what Homie is saying about Lack/Talbot possibly only being here for a year, but at the same time, the price you'd pay for one of them is going to be a lot lower than you'd pay for ROR, so I don't really have a problem with it.

It seems like organizationally we're running out of space for guys based on some of Murray's recent comments, so trading a pick for one isn't going to kill us so long as it's not a 1st rounder.

I think if it did happen either way we would have a negotiating window with him where a trade would be agreed upon. If memory serves me ROR has the same agent as Kane and is on good terms with TM.
