Like G, I think Marner makes his bones in the NHL as a C. |

Hey, new guy here so don't beat me up too bad. Longtime listener, first time caller. How would you guys feel if we traded our first overall in a package deal to unload Vinny or AMac for a mid level prospect? This would give us some flexibility during free agency, and some room to resign some of our impending free agents such Del Zotto, and a goalie. We got guys on both ends of the ice in the minors who are ready to play, and soon enough we are going to have to give Voracek a raise. Thoughts? - Axilla
The cap relief to unload vinnys contract would be nice, but I feel this scenario just furthers our problem. I say that because I don't see the Flyers as being true contenders until that contract is off the books anyway. I would prefer to keep the pick and get a great prospect to help our future, which Vinny isn't a part of anywau |

It'd be an impossible sell to give away the seventh overall just to undo mistakes, given the season we all just dealt with. Gotta have something to show for it. |

There's no way I trade a first rounder to lose a contract, be it Lecavalier or MacDonald. There's a good chance of landing an all star player with that pick and you can't move it just to get cap flexibility for a mediocre team in the short term.
I am not sold that the kids are ready to play, and the guy they draft at 7 overall has a better than even shot at immediately stepping in and being their best prospect. |

I'm not. Kid's a beast. Biggest issue for him moving forward is being more selfish and making sure he doesn't cross the line in terms of temper. |

Possibly. I'd have to flip a coin if those two, Barzal and Connor were there at 7 |

Even Allen Walsh can't even slow down the Zacha train. I really like Zacha, but Connor is right there with him as far as ceiling.

I read a few people say that Zacha suffered as much from linemates unable to convert as he did his own shortcomings. He'd make the safe play and dish to a teammate, and the teammate would turn it over or fail to get it back to Zacha or not convert the chance.
The other one that got me was reading one scout who said he sees things that other guys miss, and as a result, he make a pass or a play that nobody else saw and he'd end up on an island. Playing with smarter guys or guys who have better vision and hockey sense, those plays get converted
Reminds me a bit of an interview I heard from Brendan Bell, when Gretzky coached the Coyotes. Gretzky would ask a guy why he didn't make a certain pass or why he didn't make a play different, and Bell said that Gretzky would see things that nobody else did.
