Why? There are people in the organization, and I don't mean the VP of sales or the Zamboni driver, that aren't sold on him.
I'm not predicting he gets traded, for ROR or anybody else.....but its not crazy talk. - Homer
I compare Reinhart to Galchenyuk, in the way that it wasn't a great draft but he'll probably be a good forward.
Now, would Habs fans trade Galchenyuk for ROR? Some might, some might not.
You're not wrong for discussing this, but to dismiss others opinions about Reinhart because 2 "NHL guys" told you their opinion seems unfair. |

ROR is complimentary, to add to your post. I don't agree that he's been treated like some missing link godsend. 55 point (frank)ing center. Who gives a poop about that guy. - TheSabresTaco
You're just acting like an idiot now. |

Read the whole article, what's the problem? Even the writer says Colorado has to take part of the blame too for their take it or leave it attitude. - Homer
I did read it, yet most of the article places blame on the player. This is like the Peca thing all over again. 15 years later Peca admits he was wrong... |

ok. So be it. Opinions vary I guess.
He's not needed. 55 point center on a center dense team is not needed. If that makes me an idiot, give me the cap. |

there's people who aren't sold on Jack Eichel.
The kid is 19 years old. Plays 9 games as a barely 19 year old and suddenly people question him. I don't get it. I understand why Homie got so frustrated. - TheSabresTaco
Name one.
It's not about what he did in 9 games, that means nothing. He doesn't skate that well (for NHL standards) and isn't very strong. He's got plenty of work to do but be anywhere near what ROR is now. |

If you think Sam is going to a be a great player you're likely in for a surprise. If he was in this draft he'd go somewhere between 7-10.
ROR is better than a pretty good player. Matt Moulson is a "pretty good player". - Homer
I thought you loved Samson? So confused?? |

You don't have to be an expert to know that #2 overall pick from just a year ago is worth more than ROR. That's just being silly. Reinhart might not pan out in the end but his value is still very high. With ROR you already know what you're getting |

I have inner league sources too. Not inner circle ones, but they're hockey minds none the less. We talk and we make fun of the people who don't believe in Jack Eichel.
No kidding he's not near ROR, the guy has what, 5-6 years on him? He's already been credited by TM himself that he's improved in strength and skating. He's still developing.
Corey Perry had questionable skating too. So did Ryan Getzlaf. All we need to do is see improvement. And we are. |

I'm not dismissing anyone's opinion. Ive said fair enough and opinions vary to peoples idea/thoughts on it.
That's what I hate about this board, throw up a good hockey topic for discussion and it gets nasty if you don't agree with certain people. I don't get nasty, I just discuss my points....which of course you don't have to agree with. |

I haven't yet weighed in on this discussion, but it is an opinion based board...of course we each think we know more.
Now, for me I keep Reinhart...the allure to this team is similar to that of a new franchise...it is fun watching it come together and musing about what could be. Further, I love this build through the draft as then these players are truly ours...making it more special when they win...like when the early year Sabres came together.
I realize you need to add parts, but I'd like to keep Reinhart and see where it gets us.
Against his peers, think U20 Tourney, he was a defensive beast .... Taking all the draws with 2 minutes left in his own zone...that is a,great sign right there! - IonSabres
Correct - he was quite Chris Druryish in that tournament |

Jeremy White said paying ROR 8-10 million would be okay cause he's worth it.
Here's what I don't like. You're trading your top selection from last years draft for a player with 1 year left on his deal. You would have to pay him whatever he wanted in his next contract or you would have lost your top selection for a 1 year rental. Given how ROR and his contract negotiations have went, he could feasibly ask for $8, $9, or even $10 million and you would have to pay him, or risk losing him.
Thanks, but no thanks. |

I haven't been nasty toward you. It seems like we've all had a productive conversation, and I'm glad you brought it up. Reinhart isn't a given, but I'm very excited to watch him play.
Just my opinion, once again. |

So we finally have our 2C center of the future in Sam Reinhart and a perfect compliment to Eichel and we want to trade him? My god. |

Next year yes, in 3 years time he'll be a top 6 contributor but for what team?? |

My thoughts exactly. I'll take the chance with sam. He is ours at a much much cheaper price with a higher ceiling. |

I don't think he's the perfect compliment to Eichel, that's the whole thing. I'd rather have a guy like ROR who the coach can say go out and make Crosby's life miserable (talking playoffs) while still adding offense then a guy like Reinhart who can't. This is about playoffs and winning big now, I'd rather go to war with guys like ROR than Sam.
Don't get me wrong, I think Reinhart will have a good NHL career, I'm not trying to bash him....just the type of player I'd prefer is ROR. |
