Perron was nothing more than a salary dump they had to make. They got a second round pick too in that deal. It's not like Perron has done anything of note since.
A lot of people here were female doging about Pittsburgh trading Borts for Cole due to losing all the grit on the blueline. At the time, it wasn't thought of as a bad deal for STL. Now, with the way Cole looked for us, it looks bad. - Oneonta Penguin
The Despres for Lovejoy deal killed me inside. What a waste. |

Agreed. That may be the best semi real roster posted yet. That team would be a legit contender. Even if can't get Oshie, have Perron for Sids wing and can make trade at deadline if need another wing.
Anyone have a scout report on Tikonov, don't know much about him. - mmonana120
Hat trick by Tikhonov (notice pass to himself in traffic on first goal). Goes to the net, then around the net on second. Third is basically empty netter.

As I said previously: another Hörnqvist/Kunitz type. His goals seem to be around the cage pretty often. - Barnaby36
If that is the description for the Russian, sign me up. That would be intriguing to put with Malkin, especially the Russian equal to PH.

It killed a lot of people on this board and equally killed our chances to maximize return on Sutter. Sutter and Despres together could get a top six forward. |

I was not one of those people. I was extatic. Then again, I have obvious Notre Dame bias.
Mark Eaton is the GOAT. |

question on Plotnikov:
It sounds like it will be a one year ELC deal. If so, will he be a RFA next summer? |

He has a nice shot too from what I could tell from the high lights. Very 2 detentional. Not just a banger. |

yes if he did one year..... but I believe two is minimum..
edit: nevermind... his age makes it no requirement on years |

Looks like he plays a good ol' canadian hockey game, being physical/crashing the net.
Do you think Malkin had some saying on him? I bet he did.
In 2014 IIHF had 12 points in 10 games for Russia. 3rd overall. Guess who was 1st? Tikhonov with 16 points and 1st overall. I hope we can bring him too. |
|
|
|
Oshie also played a shutdown role with backes. Stick him with Sid and he will have 25+ goals easily. |

Loose rumors say that Tik will go where this guy goes. If that's true we're in buisness but nothing reliable yet. |

He doesn't seem like some of those other rumor mongers on twitter. He usually knows what he is talking about. |

No, he can sign for whatever, since he already went through an ELC. |
|

Well then obviously you make that trade. Who'd you rather move between Beau and Harrington? There's pluses and minuses for both. - Victoro311
Definitely agree. I feel like this is Beau's year to break out. Honestly if I were the GM that would be an eeny meeny miny moe situation. |

No. He's played in the NHL with Arizona. He'll be a UFA. Shouldn't command a large cap hit though. Was spectacular in Arizona. Didn't blossom until the KHL which could scare off some teams into thinking he can't cut it as a North American professional. I think that's off point though. He's a responsible two way forward and a tenacious fore and back checker. Probably the Russian version of Dupuis but less speed and more offensive ability. |

A 3rd round pick doesn't sweeten any deal for a legit top 6 forward... - j.boyd919
If a deal is close it does. |

Yep. I didn't give a damn about Despres as anything more than an asset. But the Pens player development and asset management was completely exposed. Especially when trading him to ANA who has a ton of young top 9 forwards (Palmieri, Rakell, Cogliano), cap space to take Scuderi at 50%, or even getting back a 3rd rounder in this draft wouldn't have been terrible asset management. |

Well you just made my day. Hope he'll sign with us for cheap. He's a good two-way player.
We seem to be going after responsible and hard working russians if you didn't know they existed |

Saw this guy team and just had to post it. It is not mine and he has an all Russian 2nd line. It is not what you would expect.
https://www.hockeyscap.com/armchair-gm/team/5879 - mmonana120
Just the idea of Malkin playing with those 2, if successful, would open up a ton of possibilities. That's a pretty lethal 3rd line and he got Franson. |
