Sharp costs $2.1 million more a year. So whatever improvement in player he is over Kunitz is well offset by that cap hit. - jfkst1
Is Sharp 2.1 million dollars better than Kunitz? Not at this point in his career at least |

How far is FLA from the cap floor? Scuds can help... - sammy87
Pronger can help even more.
Just sayin. |

They have to re-sign Petrovic, Hayes, Huberdeau, and (most importantly) Heatley. |

Hey I'm with ya. You guys were snake bitten last year and were not a deep team. One of the things I love about us is if someone gets hurt we have great players to bring up to take the spot. - Panthers88
There are very few teams in the league that can handle that many injuries to their top 6 and blue line. There are actually no teams in the league with that kind of depth. |

Thank you. I think the Isles advance against the Caps if they don't lose half their blue line. |

Yes, for the Flyers. But his $4.9M cap hit and $550K real-world salary would help them reach the cap floor (they wouldn't have to LTIR him) without paying much real money. |

The NHL has shown that it will violate its own rules as it sees fit. He should not have been allowed to be employed by the NHL while still under contract from an NHL team. |

Agreed and I'm not saying that in a homerish way. I'll take it a step further and say if we had Hamonic at least in the line up we would have advanced. Hopefully next year. |

Agree 100%. I just read an article on TSN about this recently. The writer speculated that the league would probably not allow Pronger to be traded. |

True, although I'm fine with him being inducted into the HOF with an existing contract |

They could try to deem it "circumvention" but as it stands, it is the contract of an NHL player being traded for contracts of other NHL players/draft picks. They NHL allowed the contract, but the definition of "circumvention" in the CBA is purposefully vague so that the NHL can use it with absolute authority whenever they feel like it. |

Well in hockey terms he probably is what he is. imo he looks like a decent top 9 option. - Oil_Addict
Brad Richards got faster this year. He is what? 35? |

And Jagr still doesn't seem to be slowing down... finding a few exceptions to the rule doesn't change the rule. |

Does anyone know when the signing can become official? July 1st when the FA's come off the books? Friday during the draft if cap space is created via trades? I'm guessing it's not official since they're still in cap hell |

He's still one of the best at controlling the puck along the boards, but he doesn't have near the same speed/strength that he used to. Not even close. |

Keep that name. The guy can hit, fight and score around the cage. This is what we need: hard workers around the net. A Kunitz/Hörnqvist type? |

But are you allowed to deal injured players that have no chance of ever playing in the NHL again? IMO, as his contract will always be a non factor for the Flyers (since they always spend to the cap), they should just cancel the remainder of his contract which would avoid the "perception of potential conflict of interest" in this whole thing. |
