Dupuis is the only one I see not slowing down next year. - Guile
IDK, he basically has missed the past 2 seasons. At that age, you can't just step right in. Even if he's been training, an 82 game season is a huge grind. He hasn't played enough the last 2 seasons to see how well he would hold out. Im not banking on it. But say he is healthy, huge mistake to put him in top 6 minutes and Kuni has gots to go if Dupes comes back. They have 11mil dedicated to Kuni, Dupes and Scuds. Thats so terrible. |

Sheary...

Why is this guy willing to sign in Pittsburgh? You were just telling me LAST NIGHT how no one wanted to play here. - jfkst1
Is this his only option? You dont know who else if anyone is talking to him Until about 2 hours ago, none of us knew who he was. |

I know they are called "highlights" for a reason but I really like what I saw. This is a real nice signing. Even if he can't help the top 6, at worst he will be a solid third liner and provide depth it seems. Plus he is young which is a positive. - acdc1206

Yes... or Gibbons 2.0
I said he was intriguing to many due to the Tyler Johnson phenomenon.
Similar is size, skilled, undrafted, etc. - stowerkraut
If he works out great, but AHL success doesn't always translate to the NHL.
I see Rossi or DK writing some good articles about him, next thing you know every fan wants him on the PP (Tangradi) he will get a sample of games, 1 highlight goal(BB)and half this board will erect a statue in his honor, but a regular NHL player is still a ways off TBD. |

I'm not gonna sit here and hope Sheary can be a top six winger, but if someone in the top six gets hurt, which they will, Sheary is the first guy we need to call to give a shot. After last season and his playoffs heroics he's earned it and I want to see what we have. Kapanen's not ready so why not? Worst case scenario we send him back down. |

Just my opinion...
Very small, skilled player. Very good numbers in short AHL stint. And, with Tyler Johnson fresh in everyone's mind.... makes him intriguing. - stowerkraut
Huh? Are you sure your not thinking of someone else? The dude is 6'2 nearly 200lbs

While he has essentially missed the last two years, his work ethic won't allow him to decline as much as you thing. He does bring speed and I don't see that speed declining that much, if any.

Maybe the fact that he played so little hockey past 2 years will actually be a good thing for a guy his age. His body is less likely to have suffered and started to break down within those 2 years he was off than other 35 years old still playing hard. Other than the whole knee surgery thing, which he seemed like he came back just as great, he doesn't have to live with the grind of 2x82 games + NHL Playoffs. Will he run out of gas before the end of the season? Maybe, but he is such a training/fitness freak that I wouldn't be surprise if he doesn't. |

Apparently, the new hot topic is comparing Kunitz and Dupuis to Jagr and Selanne. |

His self written article explained how he is in the best shape of his life. The west end tear of a hockey season isn't hitting him. All he does is train. I worry about timing more than physical speed and endurance. |

Dude needs to be done! Nice guy or not. He needs to understand what is better for the team and his health. A 35+ player who has been riddled with injuries the last two yes, one which is life threatening. Cmon.he needs to be done. I don't understand the fatuation with keeping him. He isn't like jagr or teemu. I'm glad he did well with did and kuni years ago but the pens can't rely on him anymore to be a top 6 player. Move on already. Keep him as a coach or in the org. But not on the ice
End rant

I was talking about Sheary in WBS. - stowerkraut
Sheary is like 5'9-5'10 or something. 180lbs.
He has a knack for scoring, great speed, relentless forechecking presence. He is going to be a cheap and effective 4th liner. |

While there is some worry involved, the dude has one of the top two work ethics on the roster. That is one of the things I admire about the guy. He has taken a lot of crap from people on this board and basically played some good hockey. He has the type of attitude and work ethic to overcome those fears. |
