He won't be 3rd or 4th line. He will be put on 1st line where he doesn't belong and they won't move him for other guys who should probably be there. Plus his cap hit is horrible
- nh4442

You don't know he doesn't deserve to be on the first line yet. The guy has responded to every doubter out there when he is on the ice. Who do you think should be there ... Beau Bennett? That guy is a waste of a roster spot.

And therein lies the distinction. RW has found a way to poop on him in almost every single blog this summer, even the ones that seemingly have nothing to do with him. It's a talent.
- jmatchett383

That's why most of us like RW. Daily blog for discussion and continual bashing of Sutter. Can't go wrong with that.

I don't think anyone can compare to Sammy in regards to negativity. I know I can be very negative at times, but Sammy is a supermassive black hole of negativity that sucks positivity out of a discussion like Sutter sucks the offensive production out of his line mates.
- jfkst1

I'm not going to pretend this team is better than it actually is or at least has some good options. I think most can see just in the division alone the pens are trending down. Signing an unknown Russian doesn't change that standing.

I also think 66 knows this as well and is selling high while he can. He sees the issues this team faces. You dont think he would want to stick around and be part of more cup runs?

There is nothing that he posts that is wrong, if you really look at it. I agree with probably 95% of the stuff he posts. It's reality really. This organization has major flaws; little assets to trade; not that much talent and not a great amount of cap space to use to improve. The only options are taking risks on players that have major flaws (bad contracts, poor work ethic, injury history guys). There are players on this roster that aren't good or are on the decline, bring back little in return and we are more than likely stuck with. This is not a total rebuild, but this is pretty close to one. Major concerns on offense since we only have one line worth a poop and no forwards to go with our second generation talent and now major questions on defense, a position our former GM drafted year after year.

There is nothing wrong with facing reality. because there is little positive about this organization in its current state. We have two generational talents and aren't close to competing for a Cup due to poor decision making.

Sammy and I have an understanding. Only guy I absolutely couldn't stand was 87_71_29_11. And he put himself on waivers after he told me to shoot myself.
Sammy is plenty capable of intelligent conversation, it just gets frustrating when he refuses to accept any positive perspective. Especially when a comparison with another team outside the Pens can be made.

haha, I guess.

I don't mind the occasional Sutter bashing. But, somehow, RW could write a blog about the Penguins making a 5th round pick, and somehow work in, "...in contrast to Sutter's poor possession metrics in March..." or something.

To Tell the Truth, I am RW.

"To Tell the Truth" - The TV game show features a panel of four celebrities whose object is the correct identification of a described contestant who has an unusual occupation or experience.

Find out Friday night before the draft - Who is the REAL, Ryan Wilson (RW) ???

I appreciate the nice remarks!

I enjoy a good conversation and debate. This place would be awful if everyone were"
:BB is great I think he will over come his legs falling off and terrible work ethic.
:I agree, I also think Dupes is great and will overcome missing 2 seasons and being 36 yrs old. I think he has a long future of being 87's line mate.
:Martin is great too. He played so well at 34 they should sign him for 5 more years. Im sure he will play that well when he is 40
:We signed a guy from the KHL i never heard of but DK says he's a top 6. Great!

I used to be a Sutter guy. I thought he got a lot of undue criticism. But this year just drove me nuts. I can not stand a guy who never wins a battle. He just is too easily pushed off the puck to be effective or consistent. I'm very hopeful he's gone.

Which is totally fair. He deserves it, at least to an extent. But RW has a seeming inability to write 3 blogs without a Sutter bash in there, even when the blogs have little to nothing to do related to him.

I don't think that's the only option. Why put ourselves further down the hole by taking those kind of players. If that is our only option, I would prefer us to do nothing and not going into season expecting to win the cup, rather let it all play out. Be sellers at the deadline... Guys like Kunitz, Dupuis and Sutter might have more value at that time to teams that are going to push for a cup run. This way we hit "reset" and stock up on picks or young prospects with our moves at the deadline. This, IMO, would be a much better option than to take on players the like of Semin or trading for Eriksson and hoping he stays healthy.

Well, when it comes to bashing, no one does it worse than Sutter with his pansy ass puck battling on the boards.

So, elite prospects scouting report has him listed at 6'2" and 205 lbs. They say what's on here....good shot, hands and nastiness. Plotnikov seems to use his frame well in creating space in tight areas...that should translate well to the NHL ice. I don't know about top 6, but that definitely puts him as a top 9.

That said, the Pens potential top 9 could include the following players; Plotnikov, Crosby, Malkin, Hornqvuist, Perron, Kunitz, Dupuis, Bennett, Sutter, Kapinen, Sheary.

4 of those guys are definite top 6. Kunitz, Bennett, Kaps, Dupuis and Plotnikov are all ? marks as far as top 6 goes with either potential or past success. You have to figure at least one guy steps up. Hence, you're left with one hole to fill. A Sutter trade could definitely fill that with plenty of external 3c options. (Hell, even Arco could have performed that task with a guy like Duper or Kuni on his wing.

I'm saying all of this to point out that the Pens are not in bad shape at all. They even have some depth options to fill the top 6 right now and are well under the cap. If they sign 4th line guys who can jump up to the top 9 they're in as good of shape as anyone in the league.....I say bring back Comeau Winnick and/or possibly Downy for fourth line duty and maybe explore an Atkinson trade. You'd even have room to sign a veteran D if one of you're young guns is traded away. I "could" see the following liyoung

Crosby, Kunitz, Hornqvuist
Malkin, Perron, (Oshie/Steen/Atkinson)
3c (Richards?), Dupuis, Plotnikov
Sundqvist, Winnick, Comeau

Extras Bennett, Downie (Kaps, Sheary, Wilson in AHL)

I don't want to speak for him but he probably believes it's a flaw with the team that is most easily fixed. I have to agree.

But yeah, he's relentless on Sutter.....kind of funny if you ask me.
