If I were the leafs right now I would do anything to take that #3 from Arizona! Just watched Dylan Strome on tsn saying he loved and watched the leafs growing up with his family every Saturday. Marner is the same way +best friends with Strome. Take Strome #3 and Marner #4... (frank) Hanifin... I want people that want to play in Toronto! People who are going to give effort!

I'd have more faith in the shanaplan if we had some sort of trying that's happened already.

Petry is fine..he is actually a top 4 D.. Amac is replacement level...you could get someone for 1 million to give you what he does.

$5.5 million is what you pay for a competent 20-minute defender on the open market. Petry's contract isn't good but it's not bad. it's market value for that type of player today. the problem that people have in understanding this is when they point to contracts that were signed under the previous CBA or contracts that were signed right our of an ELC, and they compare them with contracts signed during UFA or one year out from UFA.

Advance stats disagrees. His DPS is bad with only a small period where he was good with the Canadians.

Petry's historical DPS is worse than A Mac.

Fyi: DPS is defensive point share. It's based on well your defensive play helps your team.

I don't think it's necessary. If I'm Arizona, I'm throwing a 7x6mil extension at Gagner and minimum 2mil to each of the RFAs. Lets not forget the Gagner had like 8 points in one game once.
